  Lord of the Flies(film/redux idea)
Posted by: grandphoenix1 - 02-15-2010, 10:55 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (15)

After reading Lord of the Flies--I had to read it my English class--I now have an idea to do a movie--a sort of darker mood feel than the previous films; the ones released in the early 60s and mid 90s. I might pitch an idea to United Artists, MGM, Universal, and Warner Bros.

If they like the idea, then, that is great, you know. Though, it would be a long shot--I've never directed or produced a film before. I've written some notes of this "project", and added improvements(e.g. dialogue, music). The most spent--in my opinion-- probably would be getting the rights to use the music for the film soundtrack from the various record labels(EMI, UMG, Warner).

Music. I should mention that; a "soundtrack." Soundtrack(so far):

Cymbaline-Pink Floyd
Ibiza Bar-Pink Floyd
Embryo-Pink Floyd
Run Like Hell-Pink Floyd
The End-The Doors
Not To Touch The Earth-The Doors
Peace Frog-The Doors
Another Brick in the Wall-Pink Floyd

I'm not gonna be around for a while. Frankly, school just up and decided to become a whole lot more difficult. I know this because I repeated sixth year. Not because I failed or anything, but because of financial problems. It wasn't as hard last year as it is now. Perhaps I just got dumber over the year, I'm not sure, but its gotten to the point where its been really hard for me to cope.

Now I'm stuck writing hours worth of essays, project notes, homework, math equations and drawing art sketches as well as reading up and trying to memorize tons of quotes from about 18 poems, King Lear, a drama novel, a play, and a film. Doing all this leaves me awake until 6-7 in the morning. I prepare for school at 7:30AM.

For some reason, teachers also thought it would be funny to give us all so much homework for the weekend that we'd be spending roughly the same time on them as we do in school. So weekends are barely breathers.

And now my mock examinations are coming up the week after the next. I have the whole of next week to study my flesh off my bones. I'm really sorry for all the RPs I'm in and have been holding back, but I won't be able to catch up or keep up with them at all until summer, at this rate. So feel free to use my characters if they're vital to a plot, and if not, just static or ignore them. I hope to be able to play again as soon as I get some R&R.

Thanks!

Mary Sue litmus test Mark II

Here's an update on the Mary Sue Litmus Test. I have my doubts on anyone getting anything lower than 100, but I keep the hope that some of you may make your characters a bit more reasonable instead of everything on the menu.

I've done it myself, and I've gotten 22, 9, 4, 13, and 19.

  RIP Phil Harris
Posted by: Lost - 02-11-2010, 01:34 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (2)

http://tv.yahoo.com/deadliest-catch/show...hil_harris

For those of you who don't follow Deadliest Catch, Phil Harris was the captain of the Cornelia Marie. This kind of was seen coming for about two years now, to be honest. About two years ago, he suffered a pulmonary embolism while they were out at sea and was forced to go into surgery, ending his crab season early. The next season, he had to stay out because his health hadn't fully recovered. Since then, I had a strong feeling in the back of my head that he wouldn't live for much longer. It was very well known that his health was rapidly declining since the third season.

He suffered a massive stroke earlier this week, and died. Condolences go out to both his family and crew.

A rant from yours trully. A true rant.
Posted by: Ryan - 02-09-2010, 09:19 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (13)

6:02 Am. February, 09, 2010.
I guess a lot of things never really do change. I don’t know why I should feel that way half the time, but then when I think of it, I have to say it is true. Nothing really does change half the time. It just plays a masquerade. Forsooth I never understood people. Why? There always has to be either a reason to why you’re not feeling on the up and up. Or there has to be something wrong with you just to get one of your closest friends to talk to you. For me it’s never really that hard. Why? Because, I help people, I do whatever it is I can to make them either happy or stop being sad about how either “Life sucks” or “How can you handle such a facade of lies!” Why do people always take the little things so seriously? Even I do at times. Like when I give an Idea that people could have fun with I post it up on the forums. But then I get like 20 views but no replies. While some other person posts the same idea but in different context and story plot and gets more replies than views. Why do I complain about this one? Because it’s not just my writings. If I need help, no replies, if I need an opinion, no replies, if I need and Idea, no replies. “Oh that’s so not true Ryan. We soooo look at your threads and reply.” Yeah the ones that either mean Jack shit. Or the ones that sooner or later are about personal issues that someone else has to start a fucking debate on.
“Oh you complain about views and replies. Why?”
I complain about not having replies because it makes more sense to have replies showing that people care enough to shed their light from they’re dark mind into the light world for once. I mean I could use an honest opinion on my work. I love to write and design, but where is the point to it if I can’t get even the smallest critique? Let me put this in the lame mans term for a bit. The forum gets a new site design. Cool huh? If the admins or mods won’t make a thread on it. Guess what? The members will. Why? They show some sort of devotion that isn’t really worth a nickel. They just want to shed their own light. You know I don’t care to show my work on Devi because I know I am better off posting my work on a forum where the is more activity going on. So that would mean more views per day with more replies. Yes. God knows people can’t take up five minutes to type up a 1 sentence or one word review like every other little person would. Here let me give you an example.
“I just took about 6 minutes to type up this whole rant in Microsoft office enterprise 2007. “
“Cool”
So hard right? Geese. I am off to class.

  McDonald's Rampage

This was on December 27th.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/swl_S_CVINU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/swl_S_CVINU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And here's the clipping from my local newspaper on the subject:

Need I say more? People are fucked up. And this is all because she was unhappy with her cheeseburger. Isn't she great folks? Let's give her a big hand!

Oh, and don't make a negative comment in the comments section of the video. YouTube's been tracking this video. Somebody might actually get offended, and your YouTube account will be deleted! =o
