The DaD now has exactly 999 users, and the whole board is dying to find out -- who will be number 1000? And will he receive a special prize? =o

First thing first: I don't know if something like this has been posted before, so tell me if so.

Hmm...It may have been a while for a lot of you vets here at DaD, but a question has been stuck in my head for a bit: How did you come across Digiartists Domain?

Personally, it was a long thing. I was on Kazaa, searching for normal digimon pics, when I noticed that alot of the pics had odd names...so I downloaded a few. I figured out that they were hentai(didn't know the name of 'em at the time). One of them had this address at the bottom, so I decided to check it out. And I'm happy that I did. ^^

One of the greatest evils our society faces...
Posted by: m335h73r - 05-05-2004, 03:06 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (9)

Been a while huh?

I know this is an issue that many people feel very strongly about, so in advance I would like to apologise if the heated debates bound to ensue here offend anybody. However, I can stay silent no longer on the issue of the veritable demon that is ravaging homes, corrupting our youth, and using up valuable resources. Have you guessed to what it is that I refer?

.........

Bread. This seemingly harmless grain-product has been linked to - and so evidently CAUSES - most of society's ills. Are you willing to accept my word for it? No? Then luckily, I present a manifesto crafted by a group of the most informed people in the known world: anonymous internet users. Perhaps you remain suspicious, but truly, who can doubt their genius after reading their informative and unbiased dossier?

The Anti-Bread Manifesto Wrote:More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.

Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.

In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.

Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death.

Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are obviously cumulative:

99.9% of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread.

100% of all soldiers have eaten bread.

96.9% of all Communist sympathizers have eaten bread.

99.7% of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate bread within 6 months preceding the accident.

93.1% of juvenile delinquents came from homes where bread is served frequently.

Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate.

Bread is made from a substance called "dough." It has been proven that as little as a teaspoon of dough can be used to suffocate a lab rat. The average American eats more bread than that in one day!

Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.

Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.

Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.

Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.

Newborn babies can choke on bread.

Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute.

Most bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.

In light of these frightening statistics, we propose the following bread restrictions:

No sale of bread to minors.

A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign, complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.

A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.

No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage.

The establishment of "Bread-free" zones around schools.
DISCUSS!

Daemon wrote this in the Set it off topic under Digimon:

Quote:Alright, Season One sounds are done. I was lucky to find Change Into Power... only 1 person on Kazaa had it. And it's a good song, too!

(Quick note about startup songs: There is no way I'm putting an entire song in there, maybe the first minute or so. WAV files get mighty large.)

Half of Season Two is done, also.

But I've got a little bit of bad news. I'm losing interest in this project, like I said I would if I took too long (and it's only been 4 days!). Some encouraging words from someone else than Wisemon would be appreciated.

Alrighty. Themeworld.com is too slow on putting my themes up, so I peeked around and found somewhere I could host the files.

A little problem though, It won't let me upload anything over 700KB or something, so I had to split it up into multiple zip files.

Read the README file in the d#theme1 file for unzipping instructions. One thing I forgot to include before I uploaded these was to unzip the startup sound (in d#startup.zip) into the Sounds folder. Just so you know. Any questions and you can e-mail me.

Season One:
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d1theme1.zip
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d1theme2.zip
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d1startup.zip

Season Three:
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d3theme1.zip
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d3theme1.zip
http://www.free-webspace.biz/daemon/d3startup.zip

Yes, no Season Two yet. Still have to find Close Program and Default Beep. (Jeez, someone tell me where the stupid D3 makes a sound that's not overlapped by dialogue or noisy music!?)
Come on, give the guy his props. Reply in the topic, or better yet, PM him. I'm about to try the season 1 theme now.

What will the world look like in 50 years?
Posted by: Stormy  Wizard - 05-03-2004, 08:41 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (10)

Have you ever stopped to think about what te world will look like in half a century? When we're all old and retired? It's interesting to know that one day we'll be going 'In my day, we communicated through mobile phones, not any of this telepathic nonsense' or 'I had to drive to work when I was your age, we'd have none of that zooming around pressure tubes' What do you think the world will be like in 50 years? A scientific heaven? Or a complete hole in the afternath of a human made disaster?

Excuse the punctuation, I'm not awake yet

  24. hrs ago, I turned 19.
Posted by: Angeteen - 05-03-2004, 07:10 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (9)

I'm 19. Hard to belive, huh? Exactlly where did the years go? I know that *some* of us are about 30 or 40, but still...19 is a long time in itself.

I can't say that I really got much out of it other than a little bit of fun. Just some cake and ice cream, not to mention one $20 bill I got from my grandparents and another one I got from my aunt. Added with the money in my wallet, that makes about $60 in all. *cheers*

With a little bit of luck, I'm going to see if I can talk my grandma into ordering me .hack/Quarantine and Chrono Cross from Amazon. Since I've got all of this money, it should be easy enough to get them both. There is not really much else to comment on except for the barbecue my aunt decided to hold in my honor (hamburgers and hot dogs yum, yum).

Well...that's basically it for how my day went. Not much to comment on, but still fun all the same. :D
