I'm not sure a school can just eliminate a program if there are active student in it. I don't know where you live off hand, but I would think you could get reimbursement for the money you put into classes for that degree if they are now making it impossible to graduate from.
They pretty much need to let active student graduate and stop letting new students in, then phase out the program when everyone is done. Otherwise I'd expect they'd have a huge legal liability.
