Well not many people do leave their lights on at night, i leave a few sockets switched on but that's mainly because one controls the power to the TV cable, which i won't turn off because people need not lean over my computer to switch it back on. I have another that controls my alarm clock, so that must stay on too.

We do need Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere in order to retain the heat from the sun and possibly protect us from radiation

Strange, i always thought CO2 was plant air and Ozone was the protection. CO2 turns Ozone back into Oxygen, and we get cosmic rays shooting in at us.
