Thanks for the advice. Mind you, I don't have a girlfriend right now (though there is a girl that I wouldn't mind getting to know better, even though I've only known her for less than a month -- that's another topic altogether, though) but I'd like to believe that it's possible that there are actually some girls out there who wouldn't be completely freaked out by such a situation. All my life I've grown up surrounded by girls with small minds and strict morals, and I've yet to really get to know any girls who could intelligently think through issues like this. Yeah, I like yaoi, but that doesn't make me gay (maybe it makes me bi, but we've already been over that before). It wouldn't change how I'd feel about my girlfriend (if I had one), but I haven't met any girls so far that I think could come to understand that.
Basically, all through high school and college (yeah, I'm fresh out into the real world now) all I ever knew were girls who would giggle or scream out "Ewwwww!" if they saw two guys kissing on TV or even just holding hands. Now I'm not a super-effeminent guy and I think that if I ever meet the right girl that I could meet her needs (though I'm definitely not a dominating male chauvinist, as too many girls I've known seem to be looking for), but I'd feel better if I knew that she was cool with me being who I am, which definitely isn't a flaming homosexual, but you know what I mean.
I like to think that masculinity and femininity exists in all of us, though usually one is stronger. I mean, I can't fight (and don't want to fight) the fact that I'm probably more masculine than feminine, but I know that I don't conform to gender expectations as much as most people do, and I'd like to find a girl that's okay with that.
More than anything, I'd like to meet someone who I could be completely comfortable around and who would listen to me and understand me for who I am. I really want to do the same for someone else, and that's really what matters to me, not getting off to homoerotic (or any other kind of) mangas.
