in that case, I'll turn the heater up, light a fire, put on extra clothes, go to bed, get extra blankets and comforters, and hibernate all winter.

If you can do that without waking up intermittently, great! Nice and comfy until the snow melts... Why did God make us non-hibernators?

Everything we create during the waking half of the year would fall apart without supervision. We can't afford to hibernate.

That's only because we're non-hibernators. If we hibernated naturally we would learn to engineer around being asleep half the year.
