"I die as I lived, doing dumb shit," Alex simply replied, before sighing. "I'm a fucking idiot," he said as the portal vanished. With that done, he ran off to the War Council room. As soon as he made it, if Anora still lived, and before anything, he would loudly declare, "I hate to say I told you so, but I FUCKING told you so! Alright. What's the situation?"

The war meeting could do very little to resolve the situation. Alistar had the army assembled in hours, and all of Denerim was in lock down, but it wouldnt be enough. Alex never got an exact number as to how large the Dark Spawn forces would be, but he didnt need one. Everyone felt the Dark Spawn before they saw them, the ground rumbled with their approach, the earth shaking, rocks tumbling, children crying. It was a veritable ocean out there, an ocean of darkspawn. Alistar and Anora werent much for tactics, so if Alex had any ideas they would listen.

Alex would be silent for quite some time. He would stop and think about what kind of plan they could use before he made his choice. He would explain to his friends his plan, and would use magic to crate some help...

First off, as the army of Darkspawn neared, they would find a large wall surrounding Denerim, created by Alex and as many mages as he could acquire to create the large wall. Behind the stone wall were catapults, which fired four things. Boulders, balls of magical packed oil, which would release after a few seconds in the air (forcing them to walk through it, which would probably make many slip, fall, and drop their weapons, over the Darkspawn, and two different kinds of explosives. Fire and shrapnel based. The fire would help burn the oil covered Darkspawn, and shrapnel would tear them apart with pieces of metal. Both were made with the help of dwarves. Not only that, but there were hundreds of archers and mages standing on the wall, shooting arrows and firing spells down upon them as soon as Alex ordered.

The Darkspawn smashed into the walls like a tidal wave, and although hundreds, even thousands, died to Alex's magical artillery and hails of arrows, it was just barely putting a dent in the massive Darkspawn horde that now surrounded the city. It was only a matter of time before the outer new wall was breached and they were upon the broken down old wall of Denerim.

"Keep fighting!" Alex roared, making the sky shoot down fire and death, though being careful to only hit the Darkspawn. He had to keep fighting. He suddenly cast another spell, and the fallen Darkspawn suddenly rose up, attacking their living brethren as the undead.

The fire and undead helped to stem the tied for a time, but then, "The wall is breached! The Wall is breached!" The cry came out of the ranks of Alex's army, and indeed, a pack of ogres had managed to make a large hole, and darkspawn were pouring through the gap. "We're doomed!"

"Like Hell we are!" Alex roared, before ordering the troops back, away from the flood of fiends. He held up his staff and slammed it onto the ground, causing a hellish storm of fire, lighting, and earth to surround the breach. A small group of fire cyclones shot from the ground, lighting struck down from Heaven, and the area in front of the breach shook madly thanks to an earthquake spell, causing the Darkspawn to fall. All of these spells were hurting the mage though. He was getting tired, but he refused to be defeated. His will would not give in. "Keep fighting!" He ordered, casting another spell to try and repair the breach in the wall.

As Alex attempted to cast his next spell he would feel a horrible pain flood throughout his body. He was out of mana, his shields and wards dropping as well now that nothing remained to sustain them. His last few lyrium potions were smashed by a wayward arrow. Though the arrow didnt cut him, the glass from the bottles flew in every direction and cut his palm. As the blood seeped out of his new wound he would feel power there, yet untapped. The blood called strongly to Alex, like a drug calls to its addicted victim. Blood magic was forbidden, but very powerful. Dare he?

Alex grit his teeth, silencing a cry of pain as his hands were cut and his body burned. He looked at them and then around him, seeing his fellow defenders being slaughtered by the seemingly never ending wave of Darkspawn. He had to be strong, if he was really going to do this. He had to strength his will, and prevent the magic within him from controlling him. He held his bloodied hands up and began to use blood magic on the attackers, knowing the risks.

The fade nearly rent open upon Alex's call, forcing strength into him. His wounds sealed, his skin paled, and Alex's eyes bled and glowed with new power. Spirits whispered into his ear, pleading for contract, for aid, for power. And not just demons, even spirits of justice and Valor and much more also rallied around his psychic call into the fade, all vying for a chance to aid him...or perhaps possess him. The only thing that kept the thousands of spirits from pouring into the real world was his strength of will alone. Still, even without the help of any spirit, he had power, more power than ever in fact as the fade itself slowly trickled into him second by second.
