oh yeah, I stopped writing too, after one so called "friend" bitched at the work. Hmm maybe it was a mistake I wrote it three years ago, when my English was worse then it is now. Which doesn't mean, that I am good at it yet. I still suck.
But that's not the theme. You still can write for your own, or at least for the ones who appreciate it.
It's still a small border between criticism and bitching in my point of view. I don't mind to get critics, especially about grammar stuff. To tell the truth, I am glad when someone tells me about it, this way I can improve.
But comments like: "Your work sucks!" or "Please do us a favour and stop writing!" doesn't help anyone. The only effect is discouraging which is a bad thing.
If you're not sure about your writing, I'd suggest you give it a willing native English speaker to read over it, ridding off your mistakes.
And one thing you should do is, just ignore those bickering bastards.
