I have no clue what it is, but your shaving remark made me think of that one scene in "Cabin Fever", where the girl shaves her legs, but ends up skinning them instead.
If it doesn't hurt, I would just wait till your next visit to the doctor, then ask them to take a look at it. That's their job!
