Race: Surgically altered human; metal-plated bones, immeasurable reaction time, superhuman strength, near-invincibility.
Dimensions: 2.5 meters tall, broad-shouldered, encased in a dull grey, full-body suit of armor made out of an ultra-dense and near-impenetrable osmium-titanium alloy.
Unbenknownst to any of the party, Spartan-79 was hurtling towards them at speeds in excess of 900 miles per hour. Encased in an HEV (or Human Entry Vehicle, an orbital-drop single-soldier combat entry vehicle), he was linked directly to an Artificial Intelligence construct known as Odin; an AI with near-limitless processing capabilities, making current computers look like Pong in comparison.
"What's out situation?" he asked the AI, the HEV's atmospheric protection skin stripping away.
"We're currently 10 miles above the surface, will hit the ground in approximately 2 minutes. Multiple contacts on the ground; some human, some Digimon. No weapon fire signatures, though, or energy surges signifying a Digital offense.
"Which means..." he began.
"...That they're either friendly, or one of them is prisoner to the other" the AI said matter-of-factly.
"Well, it's not going to be so peaceful in a second" the soldier mumbled. "Disengage the safeties on the HEV, and get us there as fast as possible." He took the oppurtunity to load a new clip of into his rifle; a 40-round clip of 7.62MM, armor-piercing, steel-tipped rounds that could tear through the average champion like tissue paper. The rifle itself was slender and had a 3.5X scope; perfect for light-sniper duty.
"Working..." the AI replied. There was a muffled thump as the safety locking were disengaged on the HEV, readying it for opening. "Impact to surface in 30 seconds. Firing main chute."
The craft lurched as the chute deployed, forcing the Spartan against the straps of restraints. He clicked the safety off his rifle, activating a targeting reticule in his helmet's Head's Up Display. As it's speed decreased, the craft creaked and moaned with the change in pressure on its joints. Finally, the HEV hit the ground at about 20 miles per hour, sending a cloud of dust into the air and a reverberation throughout the vehicle.
"Let's move!" Spartan-79 shouted, opening the door to his HEV. He leveled his rifle and moved out slowly, seeing at least 5 digimon and 2 or 3 humans. He had to fight he instinct to shoot all of the Digimon in the head. "What the hell?" he said, switching from target to target. "Are you...threats..or...what?" he said, barely keeping from firing.
