On writing, fanfiction and other wise.

Here I sit looking at my HTML editor with the little blinking line after a large paragraph wondering is this the best it's going to be? It is out of character, not fully devoluped(SP?) and kind of stretching but I enjoy every second of it, I smile despite being average at best I place it through the two checkers I have (Spell and grammar) before posting it later on FF.N.

I know I should try somewhat harder but really, it's for my own (and to an extent other's) enjoyment of reading something. Should we really complain about how the period is in the wrong spot all the time or how Daisuke would not bone Ken that way, Twisted ,when it is all free. Of course there is criticism, which is good and makes people better but some take it took far and complain in masses on some off site BBS unknown to the rest of the writing world (cough, moonromance, cough) about how the ever important canon is being raped.

I sit here thinking of which genre is the easiest to write for, I have a fancy for slapping two characters together for the hell of it. But my real passion lays in horror, no, that's not entirly correct, my passion lays in ghoststories as I have a thing for the spooky stuff but I usual leave be unless I really am in the mood for it (and sometimes I scare people, even myself!)

But of course they wonder how to fix fanfiction, they babble and wine about who is better, Red Oudeus Con X (supported by his opponent, Defender Of Nothing) or Defender Of Nothing (supported by his opponent, Red Oudeus Con X). One has over 100 chapters logged online 'bout two character devoloping naturally, sorry, "naturally", over the story. And nothing else. The other has 120 chapters about the same context only with more plodding and is so "in character" it's sickening. I tried reading both but found myself ether reaching for the nearest sharp object, a booze bottle to break over my head or a sleep. But give me a small half assed Miyako-Daisuke friendship thing I am a happy little sick puppy.

In short; the best stories I have read was these, the Owl and the Pussycat (999), The little sisters of Eluria (everything's eventual), riding the bullet (everthing's eventual, and a damn good ghost story too), Herbert West; Re-animator (read online) and Cool air (an anthology).

See a pattern here? I like real books as well as fanfiction, and a bet a lot of you do too. I just write to write, it is simple as that and nothing else.

Please stop thinking that in a hundred years everyone will remember "Usagi's carnal desire for Mamoru's dicky".

[EDIT: had to fix formating, I am new to the site ^n\./n^].

Some people are picky. Can't change anything about it. There will always be someone who doesn't hold the same preferences or views with you. Heck, that's why I don't review fics sometimes, especially if it's a couple or story plot that I personally detest.

Me, I'm a "grammar whore". Sort of. Bleh. :P
So yes, I do nudge after people for not writing with grammar and spelling in mind. Common courtesy for your readers, a bit more professional than your regular online convo, and minimizes confusion from misspellings or grammar.

I see where your going with this and for the most part I agree. Fanfiction, lemony and otherwise is just for fun but far too many people take things to the extreme. I.E. reading something they hate and then bitching about it.

Far too often I've seen writers ripped to shreds over little things that don't really matter in the long run. Okay so a fic contradicts the canon, is that something to go to war over? Not only no but hell no! That happens a lot where someone wrote something before the show was done airing and then what they did retroactively contradicted the canon material.

As for the grammar and spelling issue I agree with Balckout12. If someone wrote something as epic as The Oddesey but it was hard to read, it'd most likely end up disappearing into obscurity.

So this is a rant about writing? In that case, I would say that my gripe, currently, is having to rewrite after I decided to completely change the style of a lemon. It's been a pain in the ass. Another pain comes when I have to proofread the whole thing (again).

oh yeah, I stopped writing too, after one so called "friend" bitched at the work. Hmm maybe it was a mistake I wrote it three years ago, when my English was worse then it is now. Which doesn't mean, that I am good at it yet. I still suck.

But that's not the theme. You still can write for your own, or at least for the ones who appreciate it.

It's still a small border between criticism and bitching in my point of view. I don't mind to get critics, especially about grammar stuff. To tell the truth, I am glad when someone tells me about it, this way I can improve.
But comments like: "Your work sucks!" or "Please do us a favour and stop writing!" doesn't help anyone. The only effect is discouraging which is a bad thing.

If you're not sure about your writing, I'd suggest you give it a willing native English speaker to read over it, ridding off your mistakes.

And one thing you should do is, just ignore those bickering bastards.

Okay, I hope I haven't missed the theme completely now. If I did, sorry for that.

I do write stories all the time. I am on the procewss of writing stories of furs, pokemon, digimon, and maybe start one of a dragon. The reason I make stories is to send them down to my sisters kids and if I die, I hope they will take them and post them online.
