Defeating the Darkness within

"Ohhh, so that's what homeschool means..." Lizzy said, blushing again in embarrassment at her own naivette, "Uhm... Who are you?" she then asked, poking at her own cheek, "I don't think I've introduced myself to you. I'm Lizzy! Nice to meet'cha!" she said, holding out a claw to Lupe.

"Uh, Luke," Lupe said as she adjusted her bag a bit, holding out one of her hands and shaking Lizzy's hand, "I was homeschooled as well until just today, my grandpa insisted on me starting to come to school for some reason." Her ears twitched slightly and she frowned a bit, "Anyone else hear that screaming? Probably someone saw a spider or a snake." she grinned a bit.

Briget just nodded at what Michail said knowing that what she has had seen of the future most likely no longer correct out come of things. "This basilisk isn't your garden variety kind it's a spiked tail," she stated quickly, knowing that the basilisk loved smash petrified objects with its tail. The ferret rounded the corner to the gym and busted through the doors. The snake wasmno where to be found, "Dam it," she hissed. "Get Jack he is in the equipment room. I'll get the other four in the high school," she hissed again in annoyance.

"Yeah mostl likely," Raziel said as the sound of someone smashing stone could be heard. He quckly approached the corner and looked around it. He saw the large basilisk and gulped nervously. He then quickly jumped back as what looked to be spiked mace landed in the wall. "What the hell is that thing?" he asked not sure what it was. As he backed Away again he could hear a voice telling him to fight. After moment he decided he should fight, "I'll distract it and you guys go get help," he suggested. Then he ran around the corner and got a good look at the snake nearly pissed his pants when he realized it was a basilisk. He quickly closed his eyes. He wondered how he could fight a monster that he couldn't look at, then he remembered that water was reflective. He concentrated on summoning water as the snake started to swing its tail at the boy.

"You just be careful, don't need to spend my time hunting down another heir if something happens to ya." Michael shouted back as he walked towards the equipment room, pushing open the doors as he looked around, his ears pivoting around as well, "I know your in here. I can hear your heart beat," he smiled, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna hurt you." he called out.

Lupe followed after him as she heard the shattering noise, barely avoiding a collision as he jumped back towards her. She looked around the corner, growling a bit as she quickly moved back into the classroom, dropping her bag onto the ground, "A basilisk, spiked tailed too, very dangerous." she growled. As the tail swung towards Raziel Lupe dropped down on it, pinning it to the ground before grabbing onto it, cracking the snakes body like a whip and sending it flying a few feet away. As she steadied herself it was clear her eyes were closed, her ears flicking around almost non-stop, "What the hell is this thing doing here?" she wondered aloud.

Lupe's and Raziel's behaviors looked odd to her, but she followed after then a moment too late as Lupe swung the mysterious creature away. Never having seen a monster before, Lizzy was of course enchanted, and as she looked at the critter's body she expressed her opinion in the most eloquent way posible: "Cool!" Or maybe not.

"Is that what they call a school mascot? Hey, why are there statues in the middle of the hall...? Those weren't here before," she observed. The pieces were floating in her mind, she just needed help in connecting them. With her two new friends' agitation however, she knew something was up at least, "Guys...?" she softly asked, feeling left out as her ears flattened against her skull.

Kyle leaped hearing the noise and looked outside of the class room and saw the creature " what the fuck?" He said softly looking down and grinned seeing its shadow " ok shadow you know the drill." He said as the shadow. Creapted behind it pulling it's head back the best as alex himself in the class room occaonly wenching feeling the effort shadow was exerting as if he was doing it trying to assist the others. Soon wispering to Izzy "hey ids get back here that thing is dangerous" he said peaking out of the room near her.

Jack cautiously peeked out from behind a punching bag, his box and its contents safely back in his backpack, except for the shield-shaped crystal, which he clenched tightly in a trembling paw. "Wh-who are you?" The cub asked, not trusting the old wolf at all. He was on guard and prepared to run, or if necessary, fight.

"Who am I?" Michael rubbed his chin a bit, "Hmm, a simple enough question, though difficult to answer. He smiled towards Jack, "Don't worry, I'm not an enemy. You can relax," he insisted, easily able to sense the boys nervousness, "I know who you are, and what you have, and I'm here to bring you to others like you." He smiled.

Lupe's ears twisted around as she heard Lizzy, "It's a basilisk, don't look directly into it's eyes. My grandpa can reverse being turned to stone, but not being smashed afterwards." she warned as her ears quickly darted back forward in the direction she threw the basilisk, hoping it hadn't moved too much while her hearing was focused on Lizzy, Come on, make a sound, where are you. she growled a bit.

The wolf cub's eyes kept traveling from the older wolf's paw to his other one, as well as his eyes, every time he made a move. He was wary of strangers, unable to trust anyone thanks to his upbringing, but strangers also gave him smidgeons of false hope that he clung onto until they were inevitably taken away from him. This wolf seemed genuinely trustworthy though, he sensed no malice from him whatsoever.

Panic rose in his chest after the wolf told him he knew who he is, what he had, and that he was going to take him to others like him. Was this guy some kind of cop? Was he in trouble? He couldn't go to jail- everyone keeps saying people get raped there! "I- I didn't steal it, I swear!" Jack whimpered, holding the crystal up to his chest. He didn't want to lose it, it was all he had. "I found it in my h-house..." He backed away from the wolf slowly. "I didn't steal it... please don't put me in jail... please..." He pleaded helplessly, unable to stop his legs from shaking.

"If you had, you would've been meant to," Michael smiled still despite his reactions, "No one chooses to possess what you now do, it chooses you. The fact that you have it at this moment, means it was meant to be yours, and that's all I need to know to know it's in it's rightful hands." He sighed a bit, "I had one myself until recently, but it no longer shined in my hands. It had already chosen it's next owner, and it had moved on despite being in my hands." he explained.
