Here's what I don't understand about the whole "Go Blue!" thing: Their pants are yellow. Why isn't it "Go Blue and Yellow!?" You say, "Go Blue!" and I start thinking about that dog on Nick Jr. Now that dog is entirely blue, azure and cobalt to be specific. "Go Blue and Yellow!" makes even more sense when you consider the '90's uniform Marvel's Wolverine wore.

Actually to be specific their colours are Maze and Blue. Go Blue sounds a lot better chanting in the stands rather than Go Maze. Its just been that way for years as I remember when I was still 5 years old. I'm not completely sure on the relation the Michigan Wolverines have with Wolverine on Xmen. Michigan University football started back in the 1920s so I'm pretty sure Xmen was pretty far from their mind when naming Michigan's mascot the Wolverines.

At first, Wolverine had a scarlet and gold costume, but then it was more of a cobalt and yellow costume, probably unrelated to the Michigan Wolverines. Still, why don't they just say, "Go Wolverines!?"

They do say "Go Wolverines" its just "Go Blue" is more popular within the Michigan fans since its quicker rolling off your tongue. Plus when they are playing in "The Big House" Michigan Stadium having 112,000 fans chanting "Lets Go Blue!!" sounds better then "Lets Go Wolverines!"

Go blue is just shorter and easier. People are not always consistant as well, nor is a clear cut standard used.

I just watched a good chunk of the game. I get it now. By "maize," you mean corn. Their pants are the color of corn. That would make sense... if they were the Cornhuskers. For a team from Michigan, I think it makes more sense to have chrome pants.
In general, the real problem with college football (compared with professional football) is that it isn't fair. There aren't exactly salaries, but all the best players in the country are recruited to a few dozen teams. Just looking at Michigan's offensive and defensive lines, you can tell it isn't fair. I heard USC has a tight end coach. That's right; a university shells out for a tight end coach. The professional system with salary caps just works better. That way, you know it really is the coaching and teamwork that makes the difference.
I rooted for USC. Sorry, but more good punk bands come out of suburban Southern California than suburban Michigan.

Quite franky, I'm a Notre Dame fan. I think you all know my standings on that game. I hoped that you both would lose, lol!!
I really didn't watch it though, because I was playing football all day. Kinda hard when your hand is all bandaged, but it was fun anyway.
Wise, we must debate over the whole NFL vs NCAA football thing someday.
