Tradition demands that every year, just before the new year begins, we bestow superlatives upon everything. So let's get to it. I'll start:

- Phrase that you never want to hear again: "I'd like to thank the entire population of New Zealand..." Enough with the Kiwis already!

- Celebrity you never want to see again: Anna Nicole Smith. Her drunken appearence at the AMAs was just plain embarassing, and just goes to show that you can take the fat out of the whore, but you can't take the whore out of the... erm... whore.

- Most egregious investigative journalism: "Murder in Laramie" by 20/20. Elizabeth Vargas tries to prove that Matthew Shepard's murder was not a hate crime by interviewing the two killers, but that's not the worst part. No, the worst part was that one of the killers was hoping that the interviews would help him get a retrial. For shame.

- Best villain in a cartoon: Slade, from "Teen Titans". He kicked the Titans' collective ass, brainwashed Terra, and gave Robin a bad case of temporary insanity. Awesome!
I agree with those slade is a good villian now let's see what brother blood does
My local rock station did their countdown of the top new rock songs of 2004. Here's some of my favorites that came up pretty high:

#44 "(Can't Get My) Head Around You" by The Offspring. The second of two singles from their 2003 album. I think it's better than #44, but I'm biased.
#25 "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day and #9 "American Idiot" by Green Day. Green Day's rock opera, not their best album, but certainly not their worst.
#16 "Touche'" and #5 "Running Blind" by Godsmack. Godsmack's acoustic EP.
#2 "Simple Man" (cover song) by Shinedown, only on the re-release of their first album. I first heard them in March 2003 "Fly From The Inside", and I predicted big things. By August, it seemed that they would end up being one hit wonders, because for some reason, they didn't catch on. It took at least another 6 months for their second single, "45", to get radio time. After that, they became huge, and they now have 4 hit singles. I'm proud to say I knew them before they were big, sort of.
#12 "Fall To Pieces" and #1 "Slither" by Velvet Revolver. Just as Shinedown was the best new band of 2003, Velvet Revolver was the band I called the best new band of 2004, and they deserved this. "Contraband" is an awesome album.
"Imperium" by Machine Head (just to keep up with Wisemon)

The Red Sox winning the World Series (up yours, A-Rod, up yours)

Yuchenko as new Ukraine prime minister

The new season of South Park (and hopefully many more)

The many, many kickass DVD releases

You know, all bad things aside, this was a pretty good year
Worst thing of 2004: Bush cheating his way in again
He didn't cheat so much this time. The problem is that the average heartland American doesn't know what's in his best interests. He also thinks that a guy who wages war for bullshit reasons has strong moral character. I don't blame Bush for the election; I blame the morons in red states. New Mexico was a swing state. Remind me again; which way did it go?
Bush didn't cheat. He won straight up.

And for a lot of the issues, it was simply propoganda. Especially gay marriage, which really has nothing to do with marraige.
Quote:Bush didn't cheat. He won straight up.
Well, he didn't win completely cleanly. A lot of early votes were still thrown out in Florida, and some stations in Ohio were closed early, but it wouldn't have made a difference this time. Kerry also ran a miserable campaign, and deserves a large chunk of the blame. "Anybody But Bush" could've won, but Kerry wasn't as good as the anonymous candidate.
Yep, that gay marriage thing helped Bush, though Kerry wasn't exactly for it either, he couldn't express it definitively.
And the fact that highly populated democratic areas only had one voting machine, expecially in Ohio.
this flash will explane who could be worse
