Some people buy outrageous things as a status symbol. Which is just a huge waste of money if you ask me.

I mean, my parents could have bought me a 30k plus car, but that doesn't mean that it's a good idea. A more sensible car would be what I did get. If I wrecked that, then it's only a 5k investment lost. If I wrecked a new shelby or something... well, where's the sense in a kid having one anyway? (Not that I don't want one really really badly!)

This rant is not new, it was made by every generation on the the subject of the generation that succeeded them since the dawn of civilization. People do this because they're never sure if their children can handle the world once they pass it on to them. This doesn't make the rant useless, it's perfectly healthy and understandable. Just my two cents.

First of all, you're dead right. Every generation makes this rant about the next. Second of all, where did you get that awesome Terry Pratchett quote?

I find that a person's inner personality tends to remain fixed from birth to death. Only concentrated effort on the part of the person to change can actually affect real change. Everything else only teaches the person how, when and to whom to express their inner personality for best results.

So someone who acts like a moron or an asshole as an 11-year-old kid remains a moron or asshole at age 30; they've just learned how best to behave like a moron or asshole to accomplish what they want.

In converse, if someone acts like a moron or asshole as a kid, they do so because they are a moron/asshole. Their age is irrelevant.

The problem is that nowadays it's practically illegal to hit your kids. So they think they can get away with anything, and sadly they can. A kid punches me he probably will get grounded for a weekend in his room with his 360/ps3/wii at the worst. I punch the kid back I get arrested and put in jail for god knows how long. When I was little if I did something wrong I got smacked. And I learned not to do stupid things. They need to ease up on those retard child protection things and let parents beat kids again.

my own veiws on child disobedience are quite clear

i blame the parents

i was aproached by a 8 yr old with a knife if i didnt give him my bike it was the size of him

it didnt take long for me to work out where it came from
the home ( i refer to the knife)
admittely it may not of but i would not let a kid under 12 out by himself and then i would search them

im just ranting here basically if parents tried a little bit harder i might not of had to get a new tyre(he slashed one)

Well, I can relate to that one. I don't have a computer of my own, so I go to cafes, or my friend's house whenever I need to use the net for homework, porn, etc. Whenever I was in one of those cafes, there'd usually be one of those types of children. Think: seven year olds to 12 year olds who know what kantutan and iyot is, and use the phrase putang ina mo. Kantutan is a very rude slang meaning fucking, Iyot is a rude way to say sex- and Putang ina mo is like the Filipino version of "Mother fucker", except it's a lot more vile. There was once this child, he was around nine to eleven years old, and he bad mouthed the owner (whom I am very familiar with as I call him "Mang Danny" Which is like uncle Danny or something) for lecturing him about looking at hentai because he was under-aged. The kid even used a lot of AMERICAN profanities and that got me stewed. I of course, being a peaceful person, didn't do anything.

Not all children are bad, I'm not very fond of children- but they can be nice too. And very cute.
