So the answer was origami. But Origami isn't a physical object it's a name given to the art of paper folding. So I'd figure paper would be the answer. But I guess that's what makes it a riddle.

Ahh, no, paper IS three dimensional. No matter how thin, it has three dimensions. It wasn't such a good riddle. :(
