Similar to what you are saying: Nobody can prove to me that they exist. Everything could be in my own mind. However wrong it would be, there is absolutely no way to prove otherwise.

It isn't, but it proves that reality is an illusion and we don't really know anything about anything.

I also find it hard to believe that we are all here just to end up rotting away, but KNOWING it will happen is more comforting than basing my life on what could be a fallacy that keeps the public at bey.
In short, I'd rather believe science and live my life than worry if I've done wrong. I have my under-used conscious for that.

I'm pretty sure I've secured my place in hell. Like was said in a book I'm reading, "Serve in heaven or rule in hell." but I'm not really into the whole religion thing. I believe more so in just karma, do good and good stuff happens. So I believe some kind of afterlife.
