I have another good idea: Each artist can use his own host, so you'll just link to the pics from here. Instead of uploading them in a expensive server, we could have a free server each that couldn't spend much bandwidth.

Donations? Some users might be willing to chip-in a few $$$ from time to time.
Merchandise? Any artists made anything which would look good on a T-Shirt (using something like cafepress.com)? A DaD store could fetch some sales if our artists have any royalty-free characters they'd be willing to 'donate' (full credit of course).

I'd maybe go for the donations idea, I've got a few big things to pay out soon, but after I've recovered a bit from them (I should be getting most of the money back anyway) then I could maybe contribute something.

If you can ask how much bandwidth/file-space the size takes up, then I could maybe see if one of my friends would be willing to host the artwork (he can only have one domain name so keeping the main site here would work best).

Posting again on this place for Chibi, since obviously hes like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest with being left with the DaD like this.

I think both the donations and possible T shirt idea would help. I think Neko is sauvy enough to help with the Tshirt idea, since he draws a little himself and would know how to wrangle somethin like that.

I also believe however without regular updating to the site though theres just no point. Toga's really out there somewhere (I even still got his copy of FF7 XD) and he basically paid the dude with the server like 50 bucks a month to keep it running.

Now, heres the thing, this site has been known to average 5 GIGs a day of bandwith, 50 bucks a month hardly covered anything, that was just because the dude with the server did this as a favor to Togashi.

Now, maybe with regular updates, people will donate some, and we can maybe custom T shirt selling ideas, like artists make art that goes on the T shirt, then its sold, artist gets some, site gets some, everyones happy. Otherwise I don't see much happening with this. The board was practically deserted before hand, and the quality of posting has dropped considerably. And this isn't just on the DaD, either. If we should get some actual donation money it shouldn't go to waste and we should get new mods, prolly some help with updates, ect. Right now the board is practically unmoderated except for chibi.

Remember, places like 4chan have like 300-400 dollar a MONTH bandwith bills usually, all the time. 50 bucks is a VERY good deal.

The idea itself is decent. Make the site more self-updating by the community, perhaps name one or two more mods and we could probably having the lemons up and running again if enough people wrote. We already have an Author's Domain that we use for posting stories between updates, after all.

And I have one question about the T-shirt idea: Who wants to walk around with the name of a porn site on their shirt? Or will this merchandise be purely characters doing cool but non-lewd things?

If some artists are willing, then the current commision system could be used to raise funds, in an auction style to maximize gains and minimize artist overload?

Also, the galleries could be moved to free, illimited bandwidth account, because, well such things do exists if you look for them. I think a few of thus can set free.fr accounts (assuming we have members from France, my accounts were set by a friend), and I myself can provide one, eventually 2. They are 100mb, illimited bandwith accounts with the plus of having no publicity.

And I must add that each time I look at your icon, chibi, it makes me chuckle through sheer appropriateness.

Uhhh yeah, sure. Dunno why you react like that to me Zephyr, but thats okay, cuz I guess I don't know you. You either Anonmon, really.

I don't really know why Chibi is expending the effort on this, for one, most of the regular members left ten thousand years ago and this site ain't his problem, even though everyone tarred and feathered him because of people like marc bad mouthing him. The updates, though, was an issue, because just like I said, I wouldn't see the situation changing on here unless the site began to actually function again and gave it a reason to even be hosted. If people aren't submitting art or fics then whats the point? This site has been around since the Digimon Adventures anime began airing airing in north america. thats like, 5 years ago. I basically had thought Togashi's friend had just decided to pull the plug since the site wasn't being used anymore, which is what happened, basically. I don't know where Togashi is, hope he comes back sometime though.
