I believe the official term for how it's shaped is an "ovate spheroid", or an egg-like sphere.

the earth is mostly round, cept on the poles is the planet not as round to make it round (gah weird English but i hope you know what i mean)
it is slightly egg formed I guess.

After rigorous scientific study they found the earth is actualy a giant chicken egg! Which explains the mysterious disapearance of the southern hemisphere and is also why if you dig deep enough you will find a thin white shell.
