No, the American music industry's not very good right now. The problem is the same damn thing as always. The industry keeps trying to convert music from an art form into a commodity. And all the music keeps getting stifled by "market research" and "focus groups". We're being left with these brainwashed and castrated acts like Good Charlotte and Ashanti. And don't get me started on the rap industry. It's nothing more than the black equivalent of the Indian casinos...

Although, I suppose it could be worse. In China, where anything creative is considered a danger to the state, all music is required to be apolitical, and all new music acts have to apply for a state license, and have to take an exam to get a license. Can you imagine if rock stars had to take an exam to be able to perform? Jimi Hendrix would have been screwed...

Well, Jimi Hendrix was never really about letting the government control his music since mostly he was protesting the governemtn. But what would be really funny would be seeing the guys from AC/DC take the test!

I've always been partial to Deftones, Static X and SYstem of A Down (as well as a little Wicked Clown action with the ICP >;3)

Limp Bizkit and KoRn are just too overcommercialized, and Metallica, well, as much as i love the Black Album, their just too fucking greedy. for god's sake, St. Anger is a huge piece of shit.

if you would have looked at the charts the last years you would never ask that question... todays music sux! some years ago there were good songs on tv and in the charts, today there are many artists (do not punish me for calling them artists) that reach the top of the charts with songs others made before and the others were much better... i do not know (at least i hope not) if daniel kuebelboeck (or however he is written) made a song that left germany... he is the worst of all new artists!...
