Don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly

How do you break a disc or a joint? You have two ways: a big sudden and uncontrolled movement, or many small, reiterative movements that slowly wear off the joint which slowly degenerates and with time breaks with a tiny movement. As a martial artist, you're exposed to both. It's pretty well known that all people that do sudden, sharp movements in sports (football players, martial artists) have miserable maturehoods (uh...does that word even exist?). Or do you know many old people that compete in martial arts that are over 40 (counting out Genkai and Kai)? While you see plenty of marathonists in international competitions at that age.

Oh yeah, stretching is better when you FINISH the workout, not when you start. *chuckle* If you stretch at first, the muscles will shorten again when you tense them.
