yes, I am an ex-eva otaku. I at one point in time knew almost anything you would want to know about eva and anything you wouldn't. The reason i became an otaku in the first place is because I made the mistake of watching End of Eva in a dark room on a rainy day. After that I was in a dark mood for the next week and I would actually get into mega-philosophical deabates with my friends who have only had a taste of what I experienced. That was the most mind-numbing show and movies I ever watched, and now that I am finally over it I realize that the show and the movies are a true danger to your psych if you are not already in a stable state of mind.
One view was that humans were uneccassary, but that is more of the gods view, and I don't believe in the gods view since I am human. The human view is that we are here to survive, and we will continue to thrive as long as we believe in ourselves and not let god take away our individuality. You chose a side, either become one with God and everybody else, or you kept your individuality. You could not make that choice alone, you needed to be strong, you needed to BE an Eva to accopmplish this, and that is exactly what Shinji had done. And because Shinji was an individual who fought against god he was able to release humanity from the brink of becoming one.
