They attacked the moon!! Am I the only one freaked out by this!? It's creepy man!!
Well, there is some logic to shooting the moon... there isn't anyone living on it. It's pretty good testing ground since it is out of the way.
Except for the fact that if the weapon has more of an effect than anticipated it could do damage to the moon, causing tides to change, and disrupting the climate around the world. If the effect could be controlled, it would be a very good terror weapon, but since it hurts you as much as your enemies.. not much point.
Not to mention the lack of environmental data...

If he wanted test our missile defense system, he could've just hit Montana. It would have about the same effect as hitting the moon.

If the moon has been destroyed or even damaged by an nuclear missle, why have no government agencies, news networks, or the scientific community issued a statement?
