"Senior Democrat renews call for military draft"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061119/pl_n...s_draft_dc

How surprising; the rats launch a "Bush plans to bring back the draft" scare during the 2004 election, and now when they have the Senate and the House, they're pushing for the very thing they claimed to be against.

What can you expect from the dems
I'm sorry but I can't pay attention to anyone who can't think up a smarter insult then Demo-Rats. Come back when you have a better insult. I'll probably be in canada.
I can't help it if "rat" is the best description of the dems. If the shoe fits, wear it.
Quote:He has said the U.S. fighting force is comprised disproportionately of people from low-income families and minorities.
This is true, but they're also the ones who benefit the most with careers in military service. I think it's stupid to reinstate the draft for this reason. This man does not speak for all democrats.

It should be noted that John McCain, a republican, is in favor of sending more troops to Iraq. Since he fought during a draft, I wouldn't rule out his being in favor of it as well.

Maybe, but his party didn't bust Kerry's butt about wanting to bring the draft back, then turn around and say they're planning on pushing it through after the 2004 election.

Until I hear other dems in the House and Senate getting onto him, he does speak for all of them. The democrats are for anything that'll screw our military over, and a bunch of naive twits thinking the military's nothing but adventure and an easy way to make money would do just that.

Plus, it wouldn't surprise me if they did pass it, then turn around in 2008 and blame it on Bush. That's what they did with Nixon and the Vietnam War; a democrat got us involved in that war and then when it went sour, the dems turned around and blamed it on Nixon when he came into office.

Well, sometimes cheaply made shoes work. And sometimes, they don't so try a new insult. And republicans have the word pub in it so does that mean they're all drunk? No just some of them. And on topic, I'm not doing any war. I'm the only male child of my family and I have a disability. I also know of a lawyer.

Nor does Bush speak for all republicans. For some reason alot of people think that because one person in the party says something the everyone in the party agrees with them.

The good thing is that at least the draft can't affect me.

Maybe it should only apply to those people in gangs.

Which party votes to send them without armor and health benefits? I'll give you a clue: it's not the democrats. The best thing we can do for our military is to send them some place where they can make a real lasting difference (for the positive).

Unlike being a firefighter, which of course is all just money, glory, and pussy.

Armor: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1555808/posts (doubt you're going to look at this, being against the war and all, but I figured I'd give it a try.) And which party is talking about cutting off funding for the war while our troops are still over there? Which party supported a man who called our soldiers war criminals, and recently called our soldiers uneducated, for president? Which party is Dick Durbin, a man who called our soldiers Nazis and likened them to the KGB and Pol Pot, part of?

Did I ever say I was going to be a firefighter because I wanted those things? You shouldn't make assumptions about people; not everyone's a heartless rat like you.

Since you seem to have such a serious issue with people disagreeing with you, I'm going to make a friendly suggestion to moderate your language in such discussions. You post up in the suggestion thread about a "friendly" debate thread. Why? So other people will be mannerly and you behave like a child when people disagree with you? Your conduct in these debates is utterly reprehensible. All you do is insult people and their opposing points of view instead of arguing yours more intelligently. Instead of making a better case of your own, you attempt to weaken others by insulting it.

No wonder everyone wants to argue with you. You make yourself exceedingly difficult to respect.

Anyway, by your extremely flawed logic of one Democrat speaking for all Democrats, how about your president speaking for all Americans? Yeah, I'll bet that everything that comes out of his mouth is exactly what everyone in your country thinks 100% of the time, isn't it? Everyone wants war, everyone wants oil, everyone is against homosexuality, everyone is a devout baptist, everyone believes you're doing the right thing always (despite the fact that the moral watchdog of the world told you it was wrong).

That logic doesn't quite stack up, does it? Package-deal fallacy alert! *klaxon blares*

All that being said, I doubt you read more of the article than just the headline. His point of view is explained rather clearly with the quote, "I don't see how anyone can support the war and not support the draft. I think to do so is hypocritical."

By the way, if you're going to judge people based on their political affiliation, you should probably remove the part in your profile that says you're in Arkansas before too many people notice, though it certainly explains your radical right-wing views on just about everything.
