Hey apparently I am having some trouble with my class schedule and it has been suggested that I drop on of my languages, but I am not sure which. I have done 2 years of Latin and 1 of Japanese. I want to do them both, but I can't decide.
No offense, but that is really up to you. Which do you like more? Which seems easier? Is there a real purpose to learning either? Then just compare the different teachers if you want.
Have you taken your SAT's yet? If you haven't, I suggest Latin. If you've taken them already, you've got little use for Latin, in which case, I suggest Japanese. You might already know enough Latin to get you by.
Latin is the root language of your mother tounge, as well as the root for Spanish, Italian, French, German, and a good deal of others. Learn Latin, and you'll be able to deduce the meanings of words from many languages.

Learn Japanese and you can watch raw language episodes of Digimon, or something.

Take into account which teacher is best, as well.

Kaiser comes from Ceaser. I assumed Latin was the root of German, which it isn't. However, being on the boarder of the Empire, Latin did seap in a little.

However, I know Latin is an English root. We have roots in Greek, French, Latin, and many other languages. Our "bungalow" is Hindi. Maybe Latin is not a direct mother of English, bit it's certainly a grandparent.

Wikipedia talks about Latin in English.
Yes, English has base in Latin. I would cling to German too, but I really can't say much since I don't speak or write it.
Yes, Latin seems a fair bit more useful than Japanese esspecailly concidering it is the root of many languages.

Spanish is almost a mianstay language in the country so even if you've never spoken a day of actual spanish in your life you'll still have some insight.

Edit: Of course that is assuming you live in the US, If not than I guess it really depends on where you live.
I just got a conformation from the school saying I can drop Handbells and do both so it all worked out in the end. I'm surprised that everyone has supported Latin though usually they say it's a dead language it is a useless class. Unfortunately from what I have heard the new SAT dropped the part where Latin is helpful.
Though I study Japanese, it's a bit of a niche language...

Latin has a certain aesthetic to it which I happen to like, and in fact, I chose it as the language of first contact between "modern" humans and Adin (see The Flame of Youth in the Original Fiction forum). I did some thinking through their history, and concluded that it's the language they would be most likely to recall from before they departed Earth, so I felt it a suitable choice that they might still have some latin books (both teaching the language and teaching in it), and some latin influences.

If I had to choose one or the other to study for my future, it would be Japanese. But for fun, it's Latin. Just the way I am.
