I understand that there was some hostility before between the two communities. The reason I heard was that we "don't allow freedom of speech."

Well, our members here can attest to the fact that we DO allow freedom of speech. Very much so. However, there is a line you may not cross.

The only rules for this board right now are:

"Keep order."
Take a look at the forum index. There's a forum for everything! If there isn't, suggest one in the Suggestions? forum. Please keep it that way! Things will be easier to find, and people can select what they want to discuss without having to worry about seeing things they DON'T want to see.

"Don't disturb the peace."

Well, just have respect for people is all. If an argument arises, visit Let's Take This Outside! and duke it out, but don't make death threats and stuff like that.

That's it! So far, there've been very few problems, and things seem to be going great here! As I mentioned on the main page, don't start old trouble with people, okay? It's a new day!

That's COMPLETELY freedom of speech. The only rules just keep things organized and keep everyone from deeply insulting each other or trying to kill each other.

Well, actually, the reason people said there was no freedom of speech was because mods would remove your messages, if I remember correctly, that disagreed with them.

Well, that's not gonna happen here! We have mostly different mods, and they're better than that. Right, mods?

'Course. 8) I only closed one thread when a certain kindergarten brat started to insult me, but usually, when I don't like what people say, I just pierce their avatars with needles.

What we as mods DO is isolate and eliminate any type of situation that is in danger of growing out of hand and increasing into what could instigate a flame war. Thats what happened with Marc and myself that everyone so happens to know about over at DHZ and condemn me for. Hate me or love me, it is what was necessary.

Yep. But the mods don't delete topics just because they disagree with the mods' opinions.

There are some people I don't respect, but if I don't respect you, I'll tell you why I don't respect you, and I'll give you a chance to prove me wrong or make amends. As far as freedom of speech goes, I used to say anything goes, but some things Gunter has said have been so disturbing that even I've had to say that he needs to restrain himself.

People have different opinions, and rules to follow that MAYBE oppose those thoughts, as mod in the Role Plays, for example, I would usually contact the member who doesn't follow the rules before taking any actions with his posting.

Actually I remember that 'freedom' episode fairly clearly lol.

Started mostly right after the split, and there was some nasty posting going around. Yes mods here got overzealous. Our position on it was we never wanted a huge flame war to happen from the split. The DHZ encouraged it, hence the 'Light the fires' type topics, because it strengthened their position, one of rebellion/breaking away. Our standing on the situation carried on to whenever it seemed people were trying to incite anything.

I would also point out me and several others from this site were flat out locked out from the DHZ site for some reason. And I remember others who were just assaulted so much they left. I had to log on with different comps to see what was even happening. So I guess I take the 'freedom' comments in stride.

So I would point to poor actions on both sides, it just depends from whose point of view you are looking. And I would hope people would see this.

But really, this is a whole new crop of people and the past is forgotten except in passed on rumors. Sure, you have people crawling out of the woodwork like me, but in the end they are just ghosts.

It was really inevitable that both sites would eventually combine. Honestly I always pictured it happening the other way around. I guess it was the main reason I picked up Soni and had him run the site way back when, he really was quite good about it.

Yeah it was some crazy times back then. Glad to know the DHZers will be welcomed with open arms over here. I just hope a whole lot of us don't go getting banned our first week here

I ask but one favor though, go easy on Dan. I know he tends to post where he's not to and make topics that sometimes annoy people but he's harmless.
