So tonight I sang in what was likely the last choir performance of my career. How nice that it was in a national competition that we WON!! Bwahahaha, that's right, a university choir from an island that few of you have even heard of before took a national competition! If any of you were listening to CBC Radio Two tonight at 8pm EST, you woulda heard us.

Oh well, I'll miss moments like that, singing in a choir and doing your home-province proud. I hope I can give it a good name with my own solo endeavors.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

When you say "national competition," you're referring to Canada, right? I think I'll withhold my joke.

How do they judge a choir competition?

Yes, Canada. Why?

They judge it on a couple of factors.

The repertoire needs to be of an appropriate level of difficulty for the ensemble. It needs to be sung well, with clear diction, good intonation, balance and blend, and apt interpretation.

Basically, whoever delivers the closest thing to the packaged deal wins.

So we won, and so did a women's chorus from here, too. The director of that choir is a good friend of mine. My name is her mantra to calm her down when she gets nervous. She's also thinking of doing her doctorate in choral conducting at NEC! How cool would that be to have a fellow Newfoundlander down in Boston?
