I don't think it's ever been proven that any kind of underwear do ANYTHING. Everyone says that briefs do this, and boxers do that, and jockeys and thongs do something else. Whatever's comfortable (and/or looks good) then that's what you should wear.

I'm wearing loose boxers from now on.
They can inhibit sperm production, but that's related more to the testicles. If you're going to have an erection, material cannot prevent the blood flow. The nice thing about briefs is that they can prevent others from seeing your erection, unless you decide to "make an adjustment for comfort."
