The poem in my sig. It's a poem by Jorge Luis Borges, one of the greatest Argentine writers of the 20th century, and the translation was made by yours truly. I first found it in a cemetery, when I lost my first loved one. Death is at the toes of somebody 85, but we don't know if it's at ours too. It's a good idea to read everyday stuff like this, to remember to enjoy life to the fullest.
Just in case I change my pic, I'll leave the link.

If you don't already try harder to enjoy life than to be safe and please convention than this surely is worth reading everyday.
Wow, you translated that. Nice work. My personal opinion: it's one of those poems that would hit me a little too close, except I have made mistakes, and I haven't enjoyed them. Why is it that other people seem to have more fun when they make mistakes? Wink
Thank you Anon and Wise.

Maybe, just like the poem says, cuz they're more relaxed. And it's my personal opinion about it, but I think that by saying 'I'd commit more mistakes' he's talking that he would have tried more things, you know, not refraining from doing things you are ashamed of or don't know how so you don't do them to not look silly or think what would the others think. Cuz you know, when you try new things your risk of committing errors is higher.
A very nice poem all around... though I don't mind eating kidney and pinto beans(everyone else does though). THough, personally, if I ever lived on this earth again, I'd probably end up doing the same things I do now.
Thank you Harie. Well, but the main point of the poem is to keep living the way you want. If you're doing Ok, you just have to keep it up.
Seems a bit big, though. Couldnt you just place it in text instead of having a jpg?
Ah thats very nice, and good translating and i have something to

Remember when getting high meant swinging at the playground,
The worst thing that you could get from the opposite sex was cooties,
Dad was your hero and Mom was the girl you were gonna marry,
Your worst enemies were your teachers or your siblings,
Race issues was who ran the fastest,
War was a card game,
The only drugs you knew was cough medicine
And a girl that wore a skirt didnt have to be a slut;
The only thing that you smoked were the tires on your bike,
The only thing that hurt was skinned knees
And the only thing that can get broken were your toys.

i dont know who its by or if my firend just made it, so dont sue me anyone x.x but it really makes you think

I saw that coming.

Yep, it sure is. I tried a new dining hall tonight. I was sitting alone, no one behind me or to my side. Then a girl at the table in front of me starts waving to me, surrounded by the rest of her female friends. I walked up to them, and asked her if she was waving at me. She said, "No, I was waving at my friend outside through the window." Like I said, mistakes aren't fun.
I know exactly what that's like, and I've adapted to it. Anyone who wants my attention has to try and get it twice, possibly three times. That, or be direct enough that I know who the hell they're talking to.

Gabumonfurry, I have to say I don't like your poem as much as Zephyr's. That whole "innocence" them bugs the hell out of me, perhaps because I've gotten a lot of benefits and have become happier from "eating the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge" so to speak.

Zephyr, I hope there's nothing you'd want to go back and fix.
