well it wouldn't work with my shins =p , it train them, it would not hurt that much and most of all it doesn't stop a fight o.o . have to aim for cuadriceps(if you hit there with your shin as hard as you can i doubt he would be able to stand up) and the chin(will surely knock him out if you have a decent kick, most of all need the speed to get there avoiding him skiding it and at that rate your kick will already be stong enough).

kick lessons .... =p

1 direct side kick, for sending people far away.
if you kick from with your right leg you have to lift up you knee and pass your leg to your left side before kicking note kicking from you right side that way is useless to push someone cause the force you apply to this guy isn't direct its like in a turning motion =o if you pass it to your left side then its applyd directly but its harder to do cause it uses some time more to execute and well ass muscles developed.

some people say axe kick isn't that good but id say its exelent for people than only reach to your nose , i heard they say it leaves your crotch avalable for an attack
I'd say okay, if it were possible for one to kick a person in the face. I really can't kick that high without some extra force.
Martial arts are good. All martial artists have to go to a physio at least 30 times a year (for different stuff each time).
Oh, do those back kicks often, Wise. You'll have a weakness of the hip joints and a perennal lumbalgia even before you turn 40.

Wait, is that if I do the kicks, or if I don't do the kicks? Keep in mind, I always stretch first, if that makes a difference.
How do you break a disc or a joint? You have two ways: a big sudden and uncontrolled movement, or many small, reiterative movements that slowly wear off the joint which slowly degenerates and with time breaks with a tiny movement. As a martial artist, you're exposed to both. It's pretty well known that all people that do sudden, sharp movements in sports (football players, martial artists) have miserable maturehoods (uh...does that word even exist?). Or do you know many old people that compete in martial arts that are over 40 (counting out Genkai and Kai)? While you see plenty of marathonists in international competitions at that age.

Oh yeah, stretching is better when you FINISH the workout, not when you start. *chuckle* If you stretch at first, the muscles will shorten again when you tense them.
Gee, you really know how to take the fun out of something, not that getting thrown to the mat is all that much fun. I guess this will probably be the last semester I do this.
Nah, as long as you practice clean technique, you should be perfectly healthy well into your later years. I remember when I did a seminar about 6 years ago in taekwondo with the Grand Master of Canada, Chong Soo Lee, and he was in his 60's at the time.

I don't think I've ever seen a healthier person before or since then. He was essentially a ninja. I was amazed...I'm still amazed at how he stepped aside when my brother was about to stumble into him from behind. It was madness. And then he gave him a ridiculously simple tip that improved his technique bigtime.

In short, people who live lives of martial arts are my idols, and I wish I had the discipline and drive to wlak that path myself.

If you enjoy it, keep it up, Wise.
There's a huge difference between Tai Kwan Do and Judo-jujitsu types. Namely, there are no throws in Tai Kwan Do. I'm fine when I throw other people, but they're not so good about throwing me. I got my brain rattled today when a kid forgot to hold onto my arm. I don't want brain or spinal damage, so I think I'm probably gonna have to quit Jukido after this semester. Maybe I'll take up one that doesn't involve throwing sometime later.
Like the Bible says: 'God placed in front of you both the water and the fire; to which you prefer, you'll reach with your hand'
As my job and as your friend, I can't let you go without telling you what I've learned in college. Sure, not all people are alike, but the chances that you'll reach old age miserably when doing this are high. I re- read my monographys about this yesterday. In martial arts, there's no bone you're not exposed to break and no joint you're not exposed to sprain. And I especially read the part about lumbago, that comes from delivering high kicks (as I told you).
That's a professional opinion, but if you don't trust me, go to more good physios and also traumatologists to see what they tell you. Or search here in the net. At least my conscience is clean.

Thank you, I appreciate your professional advice. I have added it to the factors that are going into whether or not I continue, and now I'm leaning towards giving it up. It's going to be harder to give up kicking when I'm stressed, but thanks to you, I'll probably start stretching after each session.
