Ok first of all I
I absolutely agree with you, but the government will never ban those games out of respect, because those games are their #1 recruitment helper. Kids play them, and then they sign up for the army thinking that it'll be just like the video games.
I myself have never put too much though into it. I remain rather neutral on it. I really don't buy too many war game, but would that mean that any game depicting a war would be considered wrong?

I didn't mean it to come off like that. The easiest example of what's just fine (to me anyway) is something like Halo. (Personally I

I consider that to be thinning the gene pool. If anyone's stupid enough to believe that a war will be like a video game, they deserve a bullet in the ass.
You know I've thought about this before and in the end I felt that the best justification for the games is that they are educational, not perfectly factual of course, but a kid will learn more about the history of our country from playing a game based on real events than on one that never happened. And though that isn't the goal of game developers it's a positive side effect.
[quote]I guess what promoted this whole thing was that during Memorial Day a lot of the movie channels were having war movie marathons and I saw a lot of commercials for that new Medal of Honor game. You know that one where they got a WWII veteran to do some narration... How can he really justify that? Sure he made it back but what about all the people who didn
Believe it or not I heard on the radio about 2 years ago that someone made their own game where you have to shoot down planes before they crash into the Twin Towers or else they collapse. Seriosuly fucked up designer in my opinion. Then again we have an even more fucked up person running the U.S. government who had serious involvement with the same attacks if not behind the whole thing.
Bush wasn't behind the attacks, he heard about them and passively sat by and allowed them to happen because he saw an opportune moment to grab power. Lo and behold, planes hit and the USA PATRIOT Act is in Congress before most people, Congressmen and Senators should have been able to write something that long, let alone in legalese.
Medal of Honor isn't as bad as what I saw in Circuit City today. Has anybody heard of Conflict: Vietnam? That's pretty damn disrespectful. However, I do agree with the gene pool thinning philosophy.
