The other day I was browsing through a local super-media store, you know the kind of place that sells everything. Well while I was in the book section I saw a book that was a crossover between, brace yourselves: X-Men and Star Trek: The Next Generation. If that doesn
I know; I used to read Spider-Man and X-Men novels. They take up about half a row on my bookshelf.
I didnt know that they make books of fanfics, but it is a good idea, I read a lot of them and some are weary good. :)
Hmmm well crossovers are okay in some cases, but still I guess I never really thought of it like that... fanfics published like that and all.
Yeah there were some people turning into mutants on some planet and somehow the x-men got there. Plus fanfics are published a lot, my friend refered to one tv writer as a poor excuse for a hack fanfic writer but he says things like that a lot sometimes.
I read a lot of crossovers and found that they are hard to make but atleast 1 out of awry 10 crossover fics is weary good.

Oh good you saw it too? Great that means,

A) I'm not full of it
and
B) I haven't gone (completely) crazy.

Strange, you'd thing I'd feel more reassured...
Yeah I heard it from a guy so that's two people that's heard of it before so you're not full of it.
Come to think of it none of this should really be all that much of a surprise to me. A few years ago when Farscape was still on the air I bought one of the novels (and I use the term very loosely) that came out for it. Everyone was so far out of character and the mechanics of the plot were so bad that I actually had to force myself to finish it.

Why torture myself you ask? Well I paid for the damn thing so if I'm gonna be pissed anyway I might as well be pissed at an entire story.

In any case I've learned my lesson, read at least the first chapter in the store to know weather or not you actually want to take it home.

"Yes Mr. store clerk, I know the store's not a lending library but I'm not a money press either. Besides I'm in here often enough that most of the other employees know me and they'll tell you I spend quite a bit here so why is it bothering you? Oh and if you don't want people to read in the store take out the comfy chairs and the coffee bar. You fucking hypocrite."

...And once again I seem to have gone off on a tangent.
Hell, it doesnt stop there. Sometimes they even use fanfiction in the actual comic book titles themselves! Havent you read Chuck Austin's run on Uncanny X-Men from a couple years back? It had everything, INCLUDING a few Mary Sue characters. I shit you not.
