I went to a "Weird Al" Yankovic concert tonight. The guy puts on an amazing show, especially for someone whose parents just died in a tragic accident. He played exactly thirty songs (though some were only partial) and managed to get to almost all of the hits. He changed costumes over a dozen times, including putting on the "Fat" costume, the "Amish Paradise" costume, the "Eat It" jacket, the Puff Daddy, the Anakin Skywalker, etc. Some of the highlights:
He stopped the concert during a speech because a cell phone was ringing, and it turned out to be his, cute gag.
He performed the concert exclusive "Special Delivery" in pizza boy attire.
He got to some of my favorites that I didn't think he'd get to, "Pretty Fly For A Rabbi", "Your Horoscope For The Day", "One More Minute", and "The Theme From Rocky VIII".
During the costume changes, he played Al TV clips and various other mentionings of Yankovic.
He performed "Smells Like Nirvana" in full Kurt Cobain with cheerleaders. He also had the cups of water for gargling, which he threw to the audience.
He supposedly finished with "Fat", but he encored with "The Saga Begins" and "Yoda" (which contains my favorite line, "Well, I'm not the kind that would argue with Ben").

Edit: After going through the albums and counting, he only played thirty songs, which is still a lot, and that doesn't count the intermediate Al TV clips, or the various gags.
he had that show years ago on cbs but yeah he is funny isn't he

I had to quote a line from a song, so I chose a line from his theme song.
Do you know where the concert tour is going to next?

Al's heading towards the city that hosted Bush's last big speech. My mom made me watch it just to see how stupid and hypocritical the guy sounded.

The site says that Al will be a guest voice on the Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy tomorrow.
weird that might actually be one to watch
Sounds awesome.
I've only heard a few of his songs from a friend, and saw his show on CBS years ago, but what I've seen thus far has been impressive for someone who'd been around for as long as he has.
(On CBS, I know he was holding back because of the censors, but I still can't beleive he got away with a projectile vomiting sock puppet.)

Unfortunately for you, the tour doesn't leave the U.S.. There'll probably be a worldwide one eventually. After all, he only puts out an album once every four years. I figure somewhere in between there has to be a trip to Montreal.
Well, the international "Just for Laughs" festival is coming up soon, so I can be held over until then.
Thanks for your concern, though.
Weird Al's ok. Nothing beats the comedic songwriting of Mel Brooks, though. Spingtime for Hitler, and Germany...doichland is happy and gay....
