Okay. I'm getting pissed off again. Once again, I post art on this board. And once again, the topic drops down below everyone else's art topics. This happens every goddamn time I post. And the problem is no longer a general apathy within the board. Oh no. I can say with confidence that a greater percentage of artists get comments on their work than before. I know this because a greater percentage of art topics ARE RISING ABOVE MINE. :x Of course, whenever I start talking about this, people just say, "Oh, lots of artists are ignored here", "It's hard to get comments when your stuff is different", etc. None of this helps, though, because none of it ever seems true. Non-digimon art DOES attract comments, if the great mass of comments for Prophet's X-Men and Teen Titan art are any indication. And, as said before, the percentage of artists who attract comments is on the rise. SO WHY AM I STILL GETTING SO FEW COMMENTS?
Look, the artist's board is one of the most well-frequented parts of this message board, probably even the most frequented. My guess would be that we get an average of at least five messages a day there. So, obviously things are bound to rise on top of each other, right? I mean, Prophet's gear -- to use your example -- may be popular, but even it doesn't stay at the top of the board for very long, usually a couple of hours at best. The only realistic way for your topics to stay on top for longer would be for everyone to stop posting in all the other topics, and you can hardly expect that.

Of course, the difference between your topics and -- let's stick to the example -- Prophet's is that his keep coming back up again because people post in them again. Well, this isn't because everybody hates you and wants to kill your topics. The real reasons are:

One -- Prophet often updates his topics and adds more art to them, which obviously keeps the interest up.
Two -- I know it's been said before, but to my knowledge all your stuff is non-digimon, which makes it a little more difficult to get comments on a digi-hentai board.
Three -- I just don't think you're as good as Prophet. Please don't take offense, but that's my honest opinion. His drawings look really cool and professional, yours still have a somewhat amateurish touch to them. And I usually keep my mouth shut about art I don't really like all that much, because I've got nothing constructive or encouraging to say. And I guess I'm not the only one. Sorry if you didn't want to hear that, but that's my opinion.

So, say, if you were as good as Prophet, and release as much new art as often as him, you'd get as many comments as Prophet. But even so you couldn't expect your topic to stay on top of the board for longer than -- best case scenario -- half a day.

This is an unfair assessment. I've avoided doing Digimon stuff because I have not been inspired to do any, and work without inspiration, in my experience, produces crap results. And besides, plenty of other artists here are doing non-digimon work and getting comments. I would leave this forum, and have contemplated leaving on several occasions, except that the DaD has been, lack of comments aside, the best forum that I can find.

Also, I used to post new work quite frequently. This is no longer true however, because, simply put, I do not receive enough encouragement to post new stuff. And you have to understand, encouragement - or, at the very least, some kind of reaction - is important, because the artwork doesn't appear out of thin air. It takes time and effort to draw the picture, plus scanning it, plus doctoring the pic, and uploading it to a host (never mind the occasional process of finding backup hosts, since hosts are seldom kind to hentai artists). And if there's no reaction at all, then it's a waste. Why do you think Hitler quit painting and took up ethnic cleansing?

And as for my art simply being amateurish... Well, I'm not going to argue that I'm better than Prophet. I doubt that I ever could be. He has more talent, better doctoring software, and better materials. I don't ask that anyone say that I'm better than Prophet, or any other artist on this board. I don't ask to be placed at the top of the forum. I don't even ask that anyone call my stuff good. All I'm asking of folks here is that I get the same respect as any other artist here, in the form of comments. I am tired of posting here and just being shrugged off because my stuff is different, or because it's not hardcore or whatever the hell people don't like about it. Hell, if I actually knew what people didn't like about it, I would be able to improve the artwork.

Oh, please don't get me wrong. I respect your decision to stay away from digi stuff. I was merely pointing out what was already said: That there are some people out there who are only interested in digimon-related art.

This and last month, these artists seem to have been... Hmmm... Foo, Prophet, Notorious, Glenn, Chii, Skycroc, Angeteen and Caron. Of these, Foo, Glenn, Chii, do furry pics. Angeteen does humor. And Prophet's stuff was based on Harry Potter = based on some fandom. So the way I see it, the stuff these guys do is actually different from yours. The only other artist that does what you do (human erotica with your own characters/story) is Caron, and he didn't get too many replies either. See my point?

Well, I think there are reasons behind your not receiving comments, but if you put it that way, I can understand you very well. Hey, tell you what, if it's comments you want, here's a comment on that "little dears" pic/concept.

1) The blonde girl on the left looks a bit odd: On the right hand side of her body her neck starts almost at the shoulder, while on the left there is a clear bend distincting shoulder and neck. Also, this makes the neck look very thick, which generally looks unfeminine.
2) What I do like is the plot you described. That sounds interesting... and sexy. ^^

Hey, my advice: Keep going, then you'll get better and get more comments. Don't let the present lack of them get you down. But, on the other hand, don't expect too many of them, because then chances are you'll be disappointed.

Yes. You see, this is one of the reasons why I ask for comments. Without them, I don't know precisely how to improve my work. Sorry if I seem a bit desperate about this commenting stuff. You have to understand, one of my other interests is theatre, and in theatre, if you can't get a reaction, you're pretty much fucked (Case in point: Boy George and Rosie O'Donnell, whose current show, Taboo, is going right down the tubes).

I'm in better spirits now, since I've finally found a solution to my hosting problems. Now, if this "Little Dears" project fails, at least I can post more new stuff without worrying finding a host for it.
