It's been awhile but the Fiend of Hammers is back.

Many times I have questioned the meaning of life and the use of mine. For all my life I've been nothing but a leech living off my parents and coasting through life until now. No more will I live in may own fantasys. Now for something new. Something more worthing of being told. Now I'm gonna kick my own ass for being a loser. I signed up with Staff Srg. Benke of THE United States Marine Corps a few weeks ago and you're more then likely asking yourself who in their right mind would sign up for the Marines on their own free will?

Twisted I would.

milk me!

Why the Marines, may I ask?

(instead of the navy, army, etc.)
Have been asked that many a time so yes you may, and I give the same answer each time. (If this is about boot camp, Evil Bring it on!)

Most people go to the armed forces for money and help through college. That's only about 10% of why I'm going. The other 90% is so I can look in the mirror with pride instead of anger and have something for my kids to brag about at school. Also, my mother works in a factory and has said to me that she would work to pay for my college. That's all fine but I would for once like to see my mom keep some of her well earned cash and get the hell out of that factory sooner then in 4 years.

In short: The other branches could handle the money problem but giving me a life worth spending it on and pride in myself, why not go to the best?
I congratulate you on persuing your dreams. I personally settled with just getting a job to support the house (I have a problem with serving a government I don't totally agree with and still discriminates), but if this is what will make life worth living for you, then go at it with every part of you. Living without purpose or happiness is not life. You're not settling with that, as an unfortunate size of the population is. Good luck.
I thank you, truthly and totally for the kind words. (And don't worry, I won't let the goverment turn me completely into an asshole, just enough to help me survive my fucked up life. Wink)
Wow! The army!

I guess I should enlist too. The Canadian military could probably use a fifth guy.
(Steriotype alert) Be all that you can be in the Mounties Reserve. lol
Well good luck to you, I personally would be able to take enough pride in knowing that I did not take part in anything that involved fighting, but then again why should I press my beliefs on others? So, if this is what your going to go for, then by all means, persue it to your heart's content. May you find the needed pride that you are searching for. :)
Good move Dude! The Marines will make a man out of you, or kill you! One of the two! My son just got out of the Marines and he's a big bad ass now! If you want respect, the Marines will get it for you! 9 out of 10 of the richest men in the US use to be Marines! Think about it!

SaberGatomon said it, and I'll say it again! Twisted
I'm due to be drafted into the Swiss army in about three and a half years, and I must say I'm not looking forward to it >_<
