Sorry, just general ranting about the fact that the successor to my favorite band(smashing pumpkins) Zwan, has broken up! To some this is a lighthearted little thing that doesn't matter much, to me i'm fucking pissed...and it's all that fucking whore Paz Liechanting(sp?) fault, the bitch left Perfect Circle to join Zwan, like 6 months into the band she ditches them and goes off with some no name...Fucking bullshit, the only woman you could probably trust in the music industry is Melissa Auf Dem Moore, D'arcy Wretcky and pop whores cause they do what their told *makes dick sucking motion*.

Well not all is bad, Billy Corgan is premiering his first poetry book today....I swear this is bullshit, Cobain dies and people won't let the fucker stay in the ground, Corgan still works his ass off and gets no respect...I quote Corgan on this "If I were dead, would my records sell. Could you even tell they'd do just as well" basically a cheap shot to Cobain but a literal one none the less...like hell, I've been looking around for a biography book on Corgan, can't find one...go to any music section in any bookstore BAM! you'll see like 20 recycled english reporter bullshit stories of Kurt Cobain the herion junkie too beautiful for this world, give me a fucking break, the guy broke a guitar and screamed rape me, sure I was a fan of his music myself, but the guy wasn't a fucking poet...and believe me I know what I'm talking about cause my dipshit sister speaks about him like hes a god, actually saying she'll kill herself at rockstar age 27 (Hendrix, Joplin, Hoone, Cobain) so yeah, some of his fans are just retards...or maybe just my sister, either way I harbour resentment towards both figures ha!

Anyways, I just spilled a bunch of words into here, I don't even remember exactly what I said, alls I know is Kurt Cobains dead, alot of his fans suck, Paz is a slut, Corgan's got a poetry book and I'm pissed off here. Adios and have fun.
Huh. Well, I can't pretend to know much abot these guys, but based on what you're telling me, THEY CAN ALL GO TO HELL!!
Well I look at it this way

Kurt Cobain killed himself, he goes to hell.
Paz broke up Zwan and dented perfect circle, if god knows any better she's going there to.
Corgan is god, so theres no problem there lol.

If Smashing Pumpkins had folded before releasing Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, they'd be held in the kind of reverential awe that most people reserve for Nirvana. Instead they became an arena rock band (never mind that they never played a stadium tour) and embraced all the excesses of glam. They were just about the coolest group in the world from 1990-1995, but I just don't think their last 3 (or 4, if you count the internet-only Machina II) albums were anywhere near as good as Gish, Siamese Dream, and Pieces Iscariot. I know that shaving his head had nothing to do with anything, but I always look to that as the moment when the band started to lose touch with what made their music so special.

I liked the Zwan album but I never really felt floored by that band as much as I did by the Smashing Pumpkins. I saw Zwan in Milwaukee earlier this year. They played a powerful show but I really wasn't feeling well so I didn't enjoy it as much as I perhaps could have. Too bad they broke up. I was looking forward to more from them in the future.

Corgan is dissed a lot in the press and by people on the internet who seem to think he's kind of an arrogant control freak. I don't know whether or not that's true, but I think he needs to lay low for a year or so, take some time off and regroup. A good solo career could await him if he plays his cards right, but I don't see mainstream success in his future. MTV and radio have just gotten too macho and sexist for his music to find any place on the airwaves, but he'll always have a devoted audience. You're proof.

Then again, your comments at the end of your first paragraph kind of make you sound like a Limp Bizkit fanboy (if they still have any fans left, that is).

Well first off yes I accept this comment, I was mad at the time and said some rather rude things about some musicians, my bad lol.

Secondly let me say I salute you for your keen knowledge of pumpkinism lol, alot of people I know in RL who say their like one of the biggest fans didn't even know of Machina 2, which I think was a pretty good set of songs.

A common situation with alot of fans. I'm not saying I'm like a special or better fan than anyone else, but I just loved their last 3 (We'll save Machina 2 for another time lol) albums, not exactly sure why but I did...not saying anything bad about their first few cd's, they kicked out some really fucking wicked songs back in the day.

Damn you...lol.

Yeah, Corgan's always getting the control freak thing thrown at him...I'm not even too sure about much of this myself, but I do know that during the Siamese Dream Cd, Jimmy Chamberlain was in rehab and James Iha and D'arcy Wretzky (sp?) weren't exactly talking after a rather serious relationship breakup. Corgan's dad had always told him that if he wanted to get famous, in certain situations he would have to do things himself to get it done, so Billy wrote out alot (some say most) of the bass, guitar and drum works on the album which alot of people may have gotten the pumpkins through one of their biggest snags. I think this is what people use for his "ego/arrogant" insult...but the band has said nothing of the sort about him...lol, sorry about this, just your daily dose of pumpkin information. *strokes the Melissa Auf Dem Moore and Billy Corgan guitar picks* my....precious....hehehe!

Not too sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing but thanks lol.

Also I would like to say I found out what actually put the nail in the coffin of Zwan...Paz left the band to do a solo career, but before she left asked one of the guitarist David Pajo to come with her, Dave accepted and they both left the band under what circumstances I'm not too sure...Billy during numerous press releases said that the band didn't really have familiar and friendly feeling that he was used to in some of his older bands, and believes he may presue a solo career. *thumbs up*

But yeah, I sort of went to town with my first post cause it was a crummy day, just found out a band I liked broke up and some other junk so I just shot punches anywhere I could lol....my apologies, Adios.

Oh no, it's a good thing. After I typed that I really wasn't sure if it came out exactly how I wanted it to, but I meant it and wasn't being sarcastic about it. I never really took any of your post as being overly mean or anything either. If my favorite band broke up I'd be heartbroken about it.

The Pumpkins (and Zwan, for that matter) were never my favorite band but I always liked them more than most any other band that's made it big over the past 10 years, save for Nirvana, maybe. "Rocket" and "Zero" are two of my favorite songs ever.

I remember there used to be a girl on fanfiction.net about 2-3 years ago that wrote a lot of Digimon fanfics and was really into Smashing Pumpkins. Later the message boards on that site shut down and the whole community kind of fell apart. Then she stopped writing altogether and I was never able to get ahold of her again. I wonder what happened to her... anyway...

Just nice to see some thoughtful music discussion on the board here.
Pumpkins weren't actually my favorite band at first, when I was young I really didn't know much about them. Really I think I may have been a Nirvana fan at first, then I came home one day and I seen this thing my brother owned called "the aeroplane flies high" Their box set...I through it in and listened to their songs and I basically got hooked on it instantly...probably because most of the music went with how I was feeling/what was going on around me.

Really the only big website I found on the pumpkins was www.spfc.org which has like alot of info, but I've never met anyone who has semi-advanced knowledge of the pumpkins on the net, refreshing...but yeah, you gotta ignore me sometimes, like always I've been known to bitch about alot of things...now I need to relax.

*Throws on the still becoming apart cd and disappears into thin air lol*
Ah yes, I remember the Pumpkins. They were the first 90's rock group that I ever got interested in. I found out about them long before I found out about Nirvana. Hell, I think "Mellon Collie" was the first CD that I ever owned.

Don't you worry, Dark. Corgan's a fucking genius at writing lyrics. It's only a matter of time before he comes back with some new project.
I could see him doing three things that all have their possibilities.

1) Resurection of the Smashing Pumpkins

2) Solo Project

3) The long awaited duet of Marilyn Manson and Billy Corgan

I wouldn't mind seeing two or three taking shape, if anyone has heard the Manson/Corgan duet of Billy's song Eye, it's phenominal, they deffinitly need to work together.

Found these the other day and thought you might find them amusing.

Also, I found this article in the Chicago Sun-Times yesterday and found it interesting, since I really don't know much about the band's early days. Read if you want.
