In a burst of smoke, Vance quickly performed a hand sign to switch places with his immobilized target causing the incoming monster to attack its ally. However, he cringed as he realized that the immobilized one was also attacking. It was unavoidable. In retaliation, he jammed the pointed end of his sickle into the beast with amazing speed. "Tricky bastards. Good thing I can be just as tricky," he snarled as he retracted his weapon. He'd hold his ground for the moment. If he needed to make a hasty retreat, he had the means.

"My thanks, Ada," Vance expressed his gratitude as he hurled his sickle at the nearest creature with newfound strength, the sharp point lodging into after which the man ripped it out by yanking on the chain it was attached to. The others were putting up a brave front, but it was better than being overwhelmed. The monsters were almost eliminated, and then things could get underway again.
