Here's an update on the Mary Sue Litmus Test. I have my doubts on anyone getting anything lower than 100, but I keep the hope that some of you may make your characters a bit more reasonable instead of everything on the menu.

I've done it myself, and I've gotten 22, 9, 4, 13, and 19.

The whole test is inaccurate, just a sarcastic attempt to make morons who make shit characters cry.

Yeah, really...I don't need some silly test telling me whether my character is good or not. If I'm happy with it, that's all that matters.

According to the test, the main character in the story I'm working on got a 2. Which at first was a -2, but I went back and re-read some of the questions.. such as the sexually liberal one.. I don't consider my character to be unusually liberal, but society would.. So I had to mark that one.


but anyway.. I agree that a character should be for your enjoyment.. Unless you are making it for someone else's enjoyment.. in which case, they should be able to enjoy it, whether you liked it or not. (Though it is hard to write about a character that you don't like anything about..)

On second thought, I decided to give it a try, but not with my fursona since he's used for comic-relief and potential sex-filled scenes. However, I did use a recent character I created and devoted a series to.

Misora Kaen, A.K.A., the female ninja who was mystically transformed into dragon during a dangerous ritual, scored a 29 with every question answered specifically down to their own nature, and I'm proud about her :3

I don't really make extreme Sues; I'm a bit smarter about how I do my character development, and as a golden rule, I don't make fan characters.

As an example, Annie Selvire (Who Mar knows pretty well) is virtually immortal and super strong. She was the one who got the 9.

Yeah, take the test 90 times and after that, getting to-the-left-of-zero scores will be possible in any way.

I still think the guy's regime is bogus, though. Guy's arrogant to the core, assuming that just because he'd frown upon someone's character others would do so. He's so individualist that it turns his test into a catalyst for a potential popularity contest.

And I know Annie pretty well, nice bottom :3

There isn't any levelling too, like for instance the question "Is your character invincible?". What if you had a character that could make themselves invincible, but only if they had a power source? What if they USED to be able to be invincible, but now longer can due to age?

same goes for beauty, wisdom, skillfulness...i found it even more arrogant for him to include the question "Did this test make you sad?"

If the character was invincible, and isn't any more.. then you would score as if it had never been (Though there may be traumatic past points depending on why he/she lost the power.)

As for leveling up... Or becoming invincible.. That would be a little more complicated. If you want to go by that test.. Youd have to get a score on every level... And then average it out for the overall score. (Or just take the highest)
