if theres one musician i REALLY like it's...bah okay i give in. i'll define them by genre

Best game music composer = Frank Keplacki. he is a GOD! Act on Instinct, Red Sky, and Hell marches 1, 2 and 3. Command and Conquer wouldn't be the same without his music.

Best ravey tunes = The Prodigy. They've got a weird and non-linear style of music, switching from gothic noise to oriential to downright electronic rave madness. The only people who took a PSA and made it epic! (Charly by The Prodigy, i recommend you watch it on youtube)

Best electronic band = Daft Punk. French, electronic love songs that you can really feel, unlike Kraftwerk who just talk about banging a model (okay so not that crude, but you gotta admit it's not really romantic as much weird). They can also make some uplifting songs like One More time and even weirdly catchy ones like Technologic and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

Best Classic Rock band = Dire Straits. These guys made a great load of songs that many have heard of but don't know directly. Walk of Life, Money for Nothing and Romeo &Juliet are some of them.

Best Modern Rock/Metal band = Dragonforce. Okay so there was alot of choice, but Dragonforce are the fastest players i know of and that alone deserves credit.

and finally as a little tribute

Firelake from Ukraine. Made the famous "Dirge of the Planet" song for Stalker SoC, a great song with real heart. Without them, S.t.a.l.k.e.r wouldn't be as good.

On the note of game music composer... I think the guy who did the music for the Turrican series wins my favourite artist there. Goddamn Mega Turrican's opening was EPIC.
