A few layers of Photoshop and some reference pics to nab colors off of. The green is three color layers in different shades with the "clouds" filter applied to the mask. I could probably have done equally well on Pain Shop Pro, flat coloring (I can't do shadows) it not a very complicated job.

"Multiply" is not a filter, it's a layer setting. The filters are in the (duh) "filters" drop-down menu at the top of the window.

I was just making the point I dont use filters cause my lack of knowledge and practice is limited.

I can do much better than that any given day. (I'd say, would take me 30 mins to do too) Just pay me 10$ and I'll happily shade and do anything for it too. For christ sakes, there's no shade at all! Not on her, not on trees, nowhere but under his ASS. And even that I think was already there.... There's some highlighting in the trees to upright and it makes no sense in the said context either.

This picture reminds me of the time when I was still learning how to colorize which isn't a bad thing at all. There's no whiteness at all visible, and all the colors are right aside the weird highlight. I do find the trees being all different colors a bit weird too but that's just nitpicking. This is almost as good as flats can get. You certainly have potential Circeus, too bad the "Colorization tips for pros" topic was lost, since it would have been huge use for your improvement. Despite it's obvious flaws, I'd say this is still a decent quality colorization and much better than I've usually seen around here. I feel like a santa and I'll give you... 7/10 and that's slightly higher than average. (6, being average on how I grade) Yet, I just can't help but be annoyed by how much greater this would be with proper shading. It'd turn good pic into GREAT or even EXCELLENT pic.... Netting you to 9 or maybe 10, depending how good you'd do it. You should just practise using shade some more and you'll make worthy competitor for me. I may even regret giving you tips if you'll keep on stealing potential customers.



Here's something I did in 5 mins. If you don't want to pay me, I'll just be on my merry way to comment more colorizations and help more people who'll take potential customers from me. (*Sigh*) As Tigerlily said, I could charge much more, I've checked with many people and 10$ is quite a bargain for the level you get in return. Considering how little money I've got at the moment, I could ask you to pay 10 euros instead. 10$ hardly buys me a pack of gum around here so it's really just the ammount of coffee I'll drink while coloring it.


Of course, we could make an art exchange. I love those. You draw me a pic for free, I'll color for you for free. Of course, then you have to be able to be at least decent artist....

Indeed, I cannot do highlights or shading to save my life (not because I can,t draw them, but because I'm horrible at figuring where to put them. See for example the claws on Tailmon's paw), hence the flatness. While I agree actual shading would help, I still think the color is an improvement on the original (and oddly enough, nobody would ever have criticized that original for having no shading).

Well, I went lazy over the trees (and I didn't want to color them all flat), so as I mention above I generate a series of green layers with random highlights that, combined together, don't look too terrible.

Here's something I did in 5 mins. If you don't want to pay me, I'll just be on my merry way to comment more colorizations and help more people who'll take potential customers from me.

I know it's a bit nasty given it's a five minute job, but I have to take a turn critiquing. I'm not clear there were any added shadows (so it's not exactly the best way to show me up), and the lineart cleanup is, quite honestly, horrible. Whatever you've done, it unsharpens the lines and make the shadows all wonky. Even what should have been white from the start doesn't actually look like it was. The compression artefacts are downright scary (Seriously, compression more than 80~85% is the best way to ruin an image), and the background is a hack job. Featureless white would have done it just as well, if not way better (it makes the lighting look way off).

If it's a manga scan, and you tried to take away the half-tones, that was IMHO a stupid move: half-tones in manga are part of the style itself, and getting rid of them is not only a massive hassle (you need very high-res scans to have a good chance) but ultimately pointless.

On the other hand Big T, lack of shading could be said to give a Cartoon like appearance to the picture which, in the presence of Gatomon, can be justified. Although my taste in pornographic art isn't what you'd call standard, i think it's a very good pic...in fact, anything that i couldn't draw is a better pic overall...AND if i was browsing for Gatomon porn, i would've right-click saved it by now.
