Red mage since I like being able to use swords and some magic. Plus Doublecast is downright brutal in FFTA when combined with summons.

My second choice would be the Ninja class. Effective dual wield attacks, stealing abilities, and semi-handy ninjitsu make them rather useful.

My favorite class would have to be Summoner. I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to summon Bahamut? (Geomancers are kinda cool too.) In Final Fantasy III, I was a Dark Knight, though.

Dunno, in FF V I pretty much did a Knight, Thief, Black Mage and White Mage makeup at the start. In the middle I was Blade Master (I think), Ninja, Monk and still had a White Mage. Then I climbed up to Samurai, still Ninja, Blue Mage and Red Mage. Like everyone (I think), however, I ended up with four Free Lancers with their Deathblow ability taken from the Gladiator Job, and added to that, I had Summon, White Magic, Black Magic and Red Magic.

FF V and FFTA had the best job system, I love being able to combine jobs and make hybrids.

In FFTA I always started with the main character being a Soldier, then made him a Paladin, then a Fighter, then a Thief, then a Ninja, and then, when I had everything mastered I went down to having an uber-powerful Paladin with Double Sword as Support, Counter as Reaction, and had the uberness of the Chivalry combined with the status-changing Ninjitsus. Suffice it so say, creating hybrids from Classes/Jobs is my favorite feature.

Wow, I never played those FF games. The only Blackmages I know are Lulu from FFX and Vivi from FFIX.

I absolutely LURVE them.

FF VI and higher I've never liked to be honest. FF VI scared me with those robots that appeared in the beggining, and VII looked way too complicated to me, as well as VIII, the former one with its materia system, and the other one with the GF system. I had enough with Square making me learn all the Element Allocation in Chrono Cross, thank you.

Oh Chrono Cross! That was a pretty good RPG too! The first FF game I played was IX, and it was in Japanese, so I eventually dumped it. Now VIII didn't have any particular classes, I mean, what kind of Class would you give a Gunblade-Specialist?

My favorite Character was Edea, and she's a Sorceress, so I'm guessing that's as close to a Blackmage as they'll get there.

Mine would be an archer, followed be Dragoon in close second. Most games including MMO's I enjoy long distance fighting with bows and arrows, so that is a clear choice for me *blushes*

Red Mage, I played a little of one during FFXI, and I used him a good deal in the first Final Fantasy.

This is a topic on FF games, NOT on Final Fantasy's RIVALS.
Please stay on topic Ray, btw nice change of looks...
Anyways, back ontopic, I always used an Assassin with sharpshooter skills as my main, she was pure ownage, oh yeah she also had a bow, that focus tech (to increase accuracy) and that movement +.
The rest of my team consisted of a Paladin with whitemagic, a gladiator (my 2nd in command) with ultima blade, and his secondary being defender, then he had a lot of other good stuff like counter. Nextly, I had my main character (or so was named in story alone) a Blue mage with black magic support. Oh yeah, then I had this ULTIMATE mage that mastered black and white magic and always had so much MP and Intel he couldn't be beat, he could 3 hit kill the main boss! xD
