A short poem..
#21
Here's another one of mine, only ths one I did a few days ago. I just started typing and it came to me...

Passionate Hearts...

Fire's are lit,
Passions are aflame,
Lost spirits wander,
In search for a name;

One from the earth,
One from the air,
Two find each other,
Lives their life without despair;

One from the water,
One from the clouds,
Helps out a wounded friend,
Cries in sadness, but without any doubt;

Alit are the flames that bind,
And entertwines our lives,
Look out for one another,
And protect your friend,
With joy and kindness,
From the heart within.
Nyaa... Will be around but not very much.

If you're going to write poetry that's trying to seem metered, you might as well give it a consistent meter. It's not terribly hard.

Quote:Hmm... I think I see what you mean... The 4th set is what you were refering to right? Where two more lines were added?

I had it all together, no spaces inbetween, but again I keep thinking that all poems are like that. ::sigh:: Well, I'm still learning.
What? I'm talking about meter; you know, iambs and trochees? Soft and strong stresses? What you wrote had a wildly inconsistent meter. Here's the scansion:

Quote:Fire's are lit,
Passions are aflame,
Lost spirits wander,
In search for a name;
strong/soft/soft/strong
strong/soft/strong/soft/strong
strong/strong/soft/strong/soft
soft/strong/strong/soft/strong

Quote:One from the earth,
One from the air,
Two find each other,
Lives their life without despair;
strong/strong/soft/strong
strong/strong/soft/strong
strong/strong/soft/strong/soft
strong/soft/strong/soft/strong/soft/strong

Quote:One from the water,
One from the clouds,
Helps out a wounded friend,
Cries in sadness, but without any doubt;
strong/strong/soft/strong/soft
strong/strong/soft/strong
strong/strong/soft/strong/soft/strong
strong/soft/strong/soft/strong/soft/strong/strong/soft/strong

Alright, I'm cutting this short, but do you get the idea?

Just do what I did. Take a poetry class in college with a hardass professor who takes it seriously and only gives out one A per class. Guess who got the A.

I read the poem in conjuction with what you were explaining Wisemon, and I think I can see the pattern inside it, where what is strong and what is soft... I still have a long way to go though...

Sorry, I think I must've missed it.

It's pretty good, definitely the best one in this thread, but more importantly, it's vague. I think you wouldn't have too much trouble finding a publisher.
