Do your parents insult you?
#1
My parents are still treating me like I'm a five year old when I'm twenty. The other night when I was heading out to help at a haunted house, my dad saw me getting into my costume.

He says "Don't drive with your mask on." Yeah, like that never occured to me. And my parents do that on a regular basis (tell stuff I already know). They continually insult my intelligence, and if I tell them they're doing that, my dad gets angry.

Not only that, but sometimes when I do things my dad doesn't like, he'll tell me by mocking me, when simply telling me not to do it would work just as well.

Am I the only one with parents like that? Please tell me I'm not.

You kidding me? After breaking my leg I can't walk two steps without my mom asking if I'm okay, it drives me crazy. But it's nice to know she cares.

No. They don't. Other family members? Yes. But at least one of them has a personality that clashes with mine anyway.

Yeah, parents do that all the time. My mom keeps asking me if I was courteous and polite when talking to people and if I asked how they were n' stuff. It never stops being annoying.

I know my parents care about me, but I would like them to show it by giving me some respect. They're always saying I shouldn't have to be told to do things, then they turn around and tell me to do things.

hypocrtical parants, joy...for real, my "Dad" says that he wants to take me and my sister to his house, however, 1) I don't even know where he lives, 2)He's a drunk, 3) I hardly even know him. "Mom" I never even know her name, hell I don't even know my neice yet!

my gardian is annoying as hell when she tells us how lucky we are to be alive over and over. not to mention that she expects the guys to keep a room clean to the point where she tells us to clean even the speck of dust on the ground. also that when I drive she tells me not to hit any kids, watch out for cars, etc...

also she yells all the time and bitchs all the time about others, us, and problems that don't even relate to what I'm saying. it sucks, but deep inside she loves me...ok that I'm not so sure about that.

if that wasn't bad enough she says we shouldn't go with anything for a few days, that we should feel what third world people should feel. that we don't respect anything she gives us or that we don't care about things. not true, I try to take care of my things, however it's my siblings and cousins that ruin everything I get.

another thing I hate about her is that she yells and bitchs at us one second then the next she's all in her polite mood saying "can you get me something?" What the Fuck?!

also that she tells us to do one thing, next she tells us to do another, and yells that we should do something that we can't do at the same time for crying out fuck!

ther is more, but that would be over kill on explanation...

Sadly, my parents almost never are where I am. They are too busy taking care of me 'indirectly'.

I have the personality of my dad, so as per procedure, if he gets angry, then it's not a good day for me. He insults almost anyone on reach. I would defend myself, but instead of trying to say that I pity him when he does so, I'll say that I'm being dominated by my parents. I shouldn't allow that, now should I?

My grandad always tells me that if I shoot someone, avoid the face and nipples, so they can stop the bleeding.

Sounds like I'm posting under an alias! That's very similar to my situation, except my father hasn't been involved in my raising since I was 11. He's still in my life, but less in a parent sort of way.

When I was younger they did a little. I doubt they really meant to do that since tempers can be problems for people any age, but they are fine now.

Sometimes they might say things and come off a bit rude, but they do really mean well. Insulting goes both ways. Just don't forget to be careful yourself. Still, some things are anavoidable.
