unfortunately unlike animals we have life support systems, and stuff like that, which need almost constant supervision so shutting those down is an impossibility and those people who are on IVs can't change them by themselves and you can't put up a huge 6 month bag since they go bad pretty quickly if not refrigerated.

And of course, that's why we don't, it might have beem too much trouble to set everything up.
