The sacrifice of hiding in a lie

I'm working on my Summer contest lemon, and I need a little help getting a fact straight. In the first episode, when Tai and Izzy go into the hiding tree, can they see the outside? Is the hiding tree opaque from the outside and transparent from the inside, or is it opaque from both sides? Please don't answer unless you're sure.

They couldn't see outside. (I just loaded up the episode.)

Hm. I don't know for sure, and I just saw this episode again a month or two ago. I mean, I think I know the answer, but I don't for certain, and you don't want responses like that, so I won't give you one.

Never mind, I remembered that I taped the first Digi Bowl, which included this episode. They couldn't see outside from the sides, but they could see outside from a hole in the top. That's why I was confused.
