as far as the creation of the universe is concerned, i'm with steven hawking on that one, the universe always was. but as far as the creation of life, a divine presence is still life and must have come from somewhere, explain that one.
mat here does have a point though, science often leaves things unexplained. however the big bang theory is not one of them. things is, the more matter is compressed the more energy there is, with enough compression it's phesable(sp?) that an explosion could occur. but then, like i said, i believe that the universe always was, it simply goes through cycles of change.
since mat was actually cordial with his words, unlike a certain person, i'll tell ya'll what i believe in. my personal believe is that there are superior beings in the universe with powers far beyond our comprehension that could concivably visit and talk to people on earth, but i don't believe in some supreme being. if there are any superior beings out there, it's a species just like any on earth that just happen to have whatever abilities they might possess.
a single being cannot live forever. where there is one, there must be others, else the species would have died out long ago.
not too far-fetched i think, at the very least, no more so than saying at some point there was nothing, yet there was something there that created everything from nothing when there was nothing but this one thing that existed when nothing existed. lol
