What's All this Shit Going on in Congress?

Well they don't really have to change any laws as it is, and Im not sure why the heck it is going before congress... the FCC already has the power to make all 'live' telecasts be on a 5 minute delay so that proper editing may be applied.
So if this is going up before congress then some hyper-active psycho-conservatists are going to stir up some trouble, that or the exact opposite... to me the only thing worse than a HASC is a hyper-active psycho-liberalist.

lol interesting point of view about the beer and the pope. Maybe they used the German word for pope and used it for the beer. ;)

Everything is possible.

Well, I just hope this thoughts will not win. I think they are just overreacting about it all.

i dont' see what the problem is, honestly. but then, i don't believe in the corruption of innocence, children aren't innocent, parents just want to believe that. i feel that they should be exposed to as much as possible so that they can learn to face these things and in the process the porn industry will lose it's power because people won't bother with it.

The part that pisses me off is that people are raving about how much it "damaged the children's mind", when it reality the kids were probably more emotionally scarred when his father threw a beer bottle at the TV because the Patriots forgot to cover the spread.

It all just stems from American society being modeled after the Bible, i.e. absolutely everything even remotely sexual is evil (even inside the book, Jesus himself said that even having any romantic feelings for someone you're not married to is adultery). I'd much rather we be modeled after Taoism like Japan. Stop me before I get into a Bible-trashing rant.

Buddhist laws, that would be funny. Everybody legally has to get rid of all thier possessions to reach true happiness! Take that, capitalism!

A Buddhist America would be fucked-up. We'd all be so passive and nonchalant, and China would just come in and kick our peace-loving asses, like they did in Tibet.

Keeping on topic, the FCC is making a huge deal out of the Super Bowl incident to distract people from noticing Dubya's attempts to change the Constitution, which is kinda funny, since he's doing that in order to distract people from noticing that he is an inept failure with the the mental capacity of a 5-year-old.

I think ill jump off this discussion now... before it gets to the point where I wonder what malfunction could be at fault here.

Sure cowboy, whatever you say. Just remember that you're outnumbered, just like in 2000.

Hey all, Im a new guy here, and I [i]would post first in a newbie column, but since this is the first one I entered, and that Im lazy, Ill post here

Nice point that Sangy had...most kids that would watch the live tv have already been scarred by something....be it from tv, music, internet, etc. whatever. Its simply that the parents never want to think of their child as "disturbed" or "sick", so they just overlook it. Willfull ignorance.......it shall be our downfall

yep yep. i mean, the whole "moral society" thing is the reaon we have so many problem with the youth of this country. they sit there and "protect" children from EVERYTHING so now they have ZERO COPING SKILLS!!!!

personally, it goes against everything i stand for to shield the "innocent" from being exposed to anything. i believe that people should learn to make informed choices from a young age. if you teach children about things when they're younger, they'll grow up with a better understanding of things and most likely cease the unhealthy compulsive behaviors in which they partake far too often. i believe in an ethical society in which people are well informed and well-equiped to deal with things however they feel fit, whether than being taught the moral way of doing things.

(for those of you that don't know the difference, ethics are conclusions we come to ourselfs as to what is and isn't right; morals are what we are told is right and wrong)
