It seems to me that lately I've been getting a lot of spam or scam replies to my threads here. The scammers have been getting banned, but if I saw them in person, heh, their heads would be rolling on the floor.

They've been making posts like "Oh yea viagra will help you greatly" and all that irritating bullcrap and then they link to sites that will either scam you out of a lot of money (Illegal) or give you a virus (Also illegal) or both.

Always have an antivirus handy (Even on a iMac!) and WOT (Web of trust) so that you can detect these kinds of scams. They get on my nerves and have no place here. I've just noticed that this almost sounds like one!

And, if there is a scammer reading this right now, you can go and get a life. Scamming happens to be against the law in most countries and can get you arrested and/or fined. I know how to track your IP address and I can use it for the good of the site. I'm also sure that the site will have your IP address handy. So you'd better watch out all you scammers or something will come your way!

I'm with you. I'm rather pissed off about this crap. It seems like only 3 moderators(Unknown, DMX, and myself) have been actively doing anything to slow these assholes down, and even then, it's still annoying.

My question is where are the other moderators. I know we have people from allover the world on this forum, and quite a few of them have been promoted to mods, so where are they? Any way you slice it the Admins need to take stock of who's still here, demote the ones that aren't, and promote the regular users to fill their slots.

But yeah, we are really getting flooded with these bots. If we could find a way to cull them effectively, that'd help quite a bit.

Banning based on IPs won't work since it could block real people but I do help. It can take a while on big days.

Well, the mods that are here and doing their jobs, keep doing what your doing. I'm not mad at y'all. I'm rather irritated at the ones that took the job and now don't even bother to show up.

I've offered to assist in the past and sent in a request for it too, but i haven't heard a reply from it yet. I do want to lend a hand in this if I can. ._.'' Though I think i can do better if I can remove them directly whenever i come around.

If only there is anything I could do, I would. I've been paying attention to this website and being around more than I let myself be known but it pains me I can't do much to stop this hack/scam attempts and all the bots appearing.

I have an idea...

Perhaps there is another way that we could use to effectively slow this? Perhaps putting tougher sign up things on it? I don't know, it's just a speculation.

Sometimes that do not work even. A few big sites also have spambots that attacks the sites.
