And about the guy ponies not appearing them. There are some, you just got to look harder. Even Rarity mentions what her 'prince' would look like.

And not only that they have broader muzzles, the males are actually slightly taller than females.

Actually I made a very nice looking one. Working with various idea of how I'd want to look, I made a unicorn who runs a Computer/"Geek" items store.
Selling computers, Video games, Comics,and various other things. He has a computer as a mark.

And then there's that mysterious Unicorn superhero. Clad in all black with a Domino Mask mark. No one knows who he is, all they know is that he's here to help.

But that is a good idea you had. And he'd be obviously male. I'm obviously male of course.

The two idiots that set the Ursa Minor in town are males and also somewhat regular comic relief characters. Snails, the tall one, seems to have a few fans. By the way adding a cutie mark to the ponies made with that program is easy, just get an icon, make sure to set the font as transparent and copy and paste it, as long as it is of the right size, that's is what I did for my cloud cutie mark.

A cutie mark doesn't depend of the parents, but on the pony skills

by the way, Lauren Faust has referred to cutie marks as "butt symbols" in her deviantArt comments section.
