Yeah, I heard a lot of complaints that this is the least scariest game and the characters look too friendly (or in Roxy's case, too hot). Freddy's animatronics always had this design where it's a mixture of 'something cute a kid would like' with 'something is off and creepy about this thing'. Like no matter how scary and creepy they looked, they couldn't go too overboard because these are also supposed to be characters kids would enjoy seeing at the pizzeria during regular business hours. Older models benefit from looking run down and not well kept, newer sleeker models (like FNAF 2 and Sister Location) benefit from lurking in the shadows. But Security Breach gave us the 'cutest' designs yet, running around a brightly lit mall. They do get busted up and are still functional enough to come after you to try to make it creepier, but since they got personalities now, you feel more sorry for them than scared of them.

The fanbase loves Roxanne cause they made her a tragic character (aside from people wanting to bone her). She's full of herself, but she's actually dealing with self esteem issues and putting up a brave face. So when she gets her eyes torn out and she's sobbing (actually sobbing), the player feels more bad for her than actually scared of her. And hey, this time she's just very advanced AI, she's not possessed by a murdered child like the animatronics from the older games.

Now that I think about it, that's probably another reason why the new Security Breach guys are less scary. They're not possessed. They walk around and act way more human-like and are treated as fellow staff members. The only weird one is Glamrock Chica who for some reason walks around like a zombie, but everyone is just fine. In the older games they had this more lifeless look, they literally were just lifeless machines being moved around by the spirits possessing them, which made them much scarier.

If he's still working with these games then he's a weird guy. I think he always was but still.

You mean the creator of FNAF? It's pretty much his money maker. He retired and let's another company work on the newer ones but all that money is flowing back to him.
